    Wherever I Am
    Hello,
I am having an issue with my N3DS.
It only turns on if the power cord is plugged in, and instantly shuts off when either the battery (which is normal) or the power cord (not normal) is removed.
I checked the battery voltage and it is at a solid 4V, so I know that it is fully charged and holds a charge.

The charging light even turns on when I insert the battery, indicating that the battery is still somehow connected.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

A battery that holds a charge isn't the same as a battery that can supply a steady voltage or amperage. Try borrowing another KTR-003 battery to check on your n3DS to rule out whether your first battery is kaput. Do not mistaken this for the CTR-003 and SPR-003 batteries.

Because the n3DS battery model is extremely hard to find and replace, the only known vendor is:
If your second test battery checks out and the n3DS still instantly shuts off, you're issue is the microfuses are blown. This you would have to disassemble the n3DS, continuity test those fuses with a multimeter, and solder in replacements. Guides of doing this on the n3DS is for the most part nonexistent; you'll have to follow n3DSXL microfuse tutorials and adjust procedures accordingly.

I'd find it strange if the battery suddenly stops working, when it was working fine the day before... I only took it out, reseated a connector, (with no power anywhere), and put it back in...

You didn't mention troubleshooting your n3DS with it disassembled. Did you ever pull out the battery while the n3DS was still on? There's a small chance you could have instantly killed the battery or the microfuses by abruptly interrupting the power with the n3DS not properly grounded.
