Hey,

I have custom firmware and don't want to have any updates that from nintendo.
Other then setting "skip disc update check" system hack on my preloader, is there anything else I can do from stopping my newphews from accidently updating my wii?

Thanks.

well what if the nephews want to play a online game

3 update blocking methods.
Update block when you burn a disc (been known for years)
starfall/starpatch/preloader/similar- blocks updates at a hacked firmware level (disc and lately I think I saw online).
geckoOS/disc launchers/similar- has the option to launch games without updates. Not sure if stuff like cIOScorp hacked the disc launching channel but it should not be that hard to sideline it if not or in the (sensible) case of you not wanting to install a random disc channel hack.

To be fair though bootmii as boot2 replacement, take a backup of the NAND and store it in a few places would be the best way. Even if it was updated it would not be hard to restore the NAND and thus your custom settings. Main problem here is that newer wii models can not install bootmii as a boot2 replacement and I do not know what you have.

Or you could just set up parental controls, it will make you enter a code every time you'd have to update wich your nephew wouldn't know.
