Oh and with the recommend cMIOS based on MIOSv10, you do get the MIOS debug printfs when debugging the plugin.

WiiPower, I have a question (and kinda request).

Is it possible to make NeoGamma spin the disk while it is reading it? It's driving me crazy sometimes when I hear the noise that the laser is making while loading the game. It's like it is about to break or something..

Or is it just me with that "problem"?

Hmm, until now i thought the noise is comming from the drive motor. I need to do some tests if the noise changes if i play around the motor commands, there should be one to start the it.

If you want a game to check it, try a sims game. It's going to drive you crazy.

I thought I should tell you that, because I'm worried that the laser might get damaged from this way of reading the disks.

It sounds like the same thing my drive does: it makes this unholy, high-frequency grinding sound for a little under a second before it gets down to business. I assume it's something that would have to be addressed at a very low level, like in the drive firmware, but I'm curious if spinning up a second or two early would help.

Edit: my drive has done this from day 1, new from retailer, yet it's never failed or thrown any particular errors.

I can only access the drive before loading the game. If it happens while playing the game, i'm afraid i can't do anything about it. Well at least i'm not supposed to do anything about it, and theoretically i could do somehting for gamecube backups.

It happens every time it loads/reads the disk. With original disks, it spins and it's reading smoothly.
With backups, the laser moves all the time because the disk doesn't spin at all or it spins a little.
If you can't do something about it, no problem man, you already did (and are still doing) a lot for us.

I just thought it's good to let you know.

I am having problems with Metroid Prime for the GC not loading with Neogamma. I have the latest beta so Im not sure if there was a version that works better or not but google and constant searching hasn't helped.
It won't actually load the game itself it just gets stuck on the neogamma loading screen. This is a NTSC version on a 4.2 Australian Wii.

Where exactly does it get stuck?

Do you have the recommend cMIOS installed?

Do you have NeoGamma set to GC mode internal?

Which video mode do you try? "Disc" and NTSC480i should work for this game. Well unless you have component cables, which i can't support, because i don't have any nor a tv that would support them.

I put the game inside my wii and start neogamma GC backup launcher.
When that starts it says "Loading backup disc..., DiscID:GMBE01, Name: Metroid Prime, Reloader activated..." and it just sits on that screen.
Yes GC mode is set to internal. I am going to double check I have the recommended cMIOS installed but I am fairly sure I do (as the walkthrough for softmodding the wii I went through had all those all set up for me). The ios on the bottom of Neogamma says 249.
Video is set to Disc and I just tried NTSC480i and it is still stuck on that screen.

I've downloaded the latest version of Neogamma (r9 beta 45), and when I try Eternal Darkness, appears the GC loading disc, and then appears a screen Exception (Program) Ocurred: With a lot numbers and letters

Currently i have no idea what's missing for wii games. Sure there's wiinnertag and other filesystems, but what game relevant is missing? For gamecube games on the other hand the compatiblity is still not 100%, while it could be as even the latest GC games are 3-4 years old. Don't come with IOS Reloading games, that's a cIOS issue.

I will check if Eternal Darkness retail still works for me. In the meantime, i forgot, did you install the recommend cIOS and cMIOS now?

Ah, it was missing IOS I think, the error with numbers and letters I think is gone, because other games wasn't working

But now installed the IOS, cIOS and it freezes on the same screen Edgar Allan Poe (other games working fine),

but I was reading you said to install or cios37 rev 19, or cios 50 rev 20, is it to GC discs too?

..

because im using cios38 rev 19 slot 249

My drive sounds like it's about to die whenever I put a disc in. Not as bad if it's a DVD-R or original disc, but DVD+R sends the thing crazy. Haven't experienced any errors or anything though, and it's been like that since day one as well (3 years now...). Probably just the way the hardware was made.
