Hacking neogamma error on friends wii

Hello, a friend of mine is trying to mod his wii using the completsoftmod sticky ontop of this tread,

homebrew is installed, and was using 4.3 prior to the update....


the error that he is getting is. dvd error 1208 disc id.

he is using dvd-r and 4x or slower.

using neogamma r9 b44.

tried multiple iso's to see if it was a iso/game issue, to no availability.

anyone able to shed some light on this issue?

Is it a new wii? Probably it have a D3-2 drive and can't run DVD-R.

If so, the solution is to use an external HDD with backups.

If its a new Wii, it will never run any type of backup disc, Ninty has put in the D3-2 drive.
Only USB loading, from a usb drive will work, which is 10 times better than disc loading, anyways....

is there a way to see if a version is usb loader only

in regards to softmod.

he says his drive date says 20080714

Sure that his NeoGamma doesn't say:
"Most likely no DVD-Rs possible "
?

It should! Also, black wii ==> no DVD-Rs.

It's not the black one, i believe he got the wii last xmas for his kids.... so would this not be the case? should this wii be able to play dvdr's
