It was confusing as you mentionned the downgrade of the hbc.
The hbc is a channel on the nand. While it might not run on your neek nand, this doesn't mean that the nand shouldn't boot into the system menu.

What exact setup are you trying to run?
Could you give us the folder / file structure on your sd card, related to your setup?

When it blackscreens, is the drive slot flashing, or does it stay dark?
my sd card structure is
apps/ mmm postloader priibootergui
bootmiineek
nands/ pl_us and inside shared1 sys ticket title and nandinfo.txt
ploader/ covers themes
sneek/
wad
and neekbooter.dol at the root the drive flashed and then the remotes die

Could you also post the contents of the sneek folder?
Could you rename bootmiineek into bootmii?
This would allow to start neek by launching bootmii from the homebrew channel (home button + bootmii starten.)

sneek folder is di.bin font.bin kernel.bin rev,txt ill try the rename

Since you have di.bin, I assume you are trying a sneek2o + di setup.

The official sneek2o + di isn't working due to a bug. I will pm you a link to a version that should work.

You might need to copy your nand files over to your sd card again as well.

thanks that did it i just cant get priiloader to find my games it says i need to rebuild a cache any advice

I assume it's postloader you are talking about?
With games, are you talking about VC/Wiiware or game backups on an usb drive?
Isn't there an option menu somewhere in postloader to rebuild the cache?

yeah i mean postloader and im trying to get my games in wbfs format to show up and the rebuilding cache option isn't working

Hi

Had a chance to test neek2o out today and didn't have much luck.

I built Sneek2o and Sneek2o+DI with ModMii6.0.6 and put them on separate SD cards (Sneek2o on a 16GB with a game and Sneek2o+DI on a 2GB).

The Wii normally boots to USBLoader GX from the USB HDD (no SD) with Priiloader and I thought when I put the SD in it would override that, but it still booted to USBLoader GX.

If I try and install the neek2o_NK2O_1.wad WAD with MMM, I get "Ticket (-2011). 1 did not complete"

If I boot the Wii normally to USBLoaderGX, then go to Homebrew and select Postloader or PribooterGUI it loads Postloader.

If I run neekbooter.dol from MMM from either SD it loads Postloader and then I select Priibootergui and that says it's booting in Real NAND mode and to press a button to change this, so I press a button and select Neek2o and I just get a black screen and have to hold the power button to turn off the Wii.

If in Postloader I go to Browse - Game Mode, it shows me the games on my USB HDD and I can load them (after I set the default loader to USBLoaderGX).

I had a lot of problems with the controllers loosing sync as well, and luckily found that by booting to Priloader by holding Reset when powering on, then holding Eject and pressing reset it would boot to the normal dash, or at least the screen where it says Press A, and from there the Sync button on the Wii worked.

It looks like you didn't mod your wii yourself?
If it boots directly into usbloader_gx, it means that priiloader was configured to do this. So the default settings of booting into the system menu have been changed.

Holding the reset button during boot is indeed the way to enter priiloader setup. In that setup it has an option to boot into system menu.

neek2o only automagically boots when you insert a sd card if you have bootmii installed as boot2.
bootmii launches armboot.bin in the sd:/bootmii folder. Older neek setups replaced that file by one that launches neek.
So, at boot, bootmii started, found armboot.bin and launched it. That loaded neek.
Modmii creates a bootmiineek folder under the COPY_TO_SD folder that contains the armboot.bin needed to launch sneek that way.

As you figured out already, you can install a channel to boot into neek. Before MMM is able to boot it, you need to select ios 236.
If you can't select that ios, it probably isn't installed.
The reason could be that you launch mmm from usbloader_gx instead of the homebrew channel.
Launched from the hbc, it should run on ios 58 with ahbprot enabled. Launched from usbloader_gx, it will probably run on ios 249 or 222.

So, try to install that wad again, and try to get rid of that Ticket (-2011) error.

I would try priiloader setup -> homebrew channel (or system menu) -> mmm (either try to install directly or switch to ios 236) (install ios236 if selecting it is not an option.)

Sneek2o + di isn't working for most people at the moment. You can try Sneek2o, and Uneek2o + di once you know your neek setup is working.

Does my post make me sound that confused ;)

I actually did mod it myself just before Christmas following this guide http://www.wiihacks....od-any-wii.html and I've recently updated it with CIOS-PACK-v6. I set priiloader it to boot into usbloader_gx. I have got bootmii installed as boot2 but I guess I need to rename the bootmiineek folder to bootmii for it to autoboot?

From USBLoader GX, I was loading the HBC and launching MMM from there. I noticed it showed the current IOS58 v6176. Are you saying that if I change this to IOS236 I should be able to install the neek channel? Will it cause any problems with anything else if I change the IOS or is that only a temporary setting?

Thanks for the warning about Sneek2o+DI. I'll stick to testing Sneek2o then.

Yes, you will need to change the bootmiineek folder to bootmii if you want it to autoboot whe, the sd is inserted.
Some sd cards initialise to slow. In that case, it will boot as without sd card. It's still possible to launch neek from within the homebrew channel that way.

Changing to ios 236 is a temporary issue, and is just for the mmm program. It shouldn't cause any issues with other programs and homebrew.

Your last paragraph made it look like you never went into the priiloader setup yourself. That ws the confusing part that made me think maybe someone else had initially modded your wii.

Thanks, I'll try that when I next get a chance then. I see what you mean about the last paragraph. I dare say I knew about holding Eject and pressing reset when I modded the Wii, but I'd forgotten so it was just a relief when I found a way to get the controller sync'd again as obviously I couldn't do anything until I'd done that!

So if changing to IOS 236 in MMM is just temporary to install the neek2o channel, I'm guessing that's not going to help with the problem of the Wii locking up on a black screen when I select neek2o from the PriibooterGUI boot menu. That wouldn't be due to not having the bootmiineek folder renamed to bootmii would it, as that's just for auto-boot isn't it and isn't used when I manually load neekbooter.dol?

I recall reading somewhere that it's advisable to remove priloader from neek NANDs. I'm not sure if ModMii did that, but do you think if I do that it might help?

What should I see when neek is booting properly? Is it meant to boot into postloader as it did when I manually started neekbooter.dol?

If neek is booting properly, you should see the health screen.
After that, it can boot into the system menu or a channel, depending upon it's setup.
The sneek2o kernel.bin is different from the sneek2o+di kernel.bin.
It's also important that you remove or rename the di.bin file.
A first boot with sneek2o and a modmii nand can take 5 minutes before it shows it's initial video health screen.
After filling in all the settings, it can take another 20 - 30 minutes before the system menu becomes visible.
If you interrupt the process of a first setup, you can corrupt your emulated nand contents.
So it's better to copy the nand folders back over from your pc.

Priiloader on neek2o emulated nand is having issues if you go into the priiloader setup.
There is a modified version on the neek2o google svn page that fixes that issue.
It's only replacing one file on the emulated nand to use that version. Modmii should already use the correct one,
so if you have it on your emulated nand from there, it should be fine.

Ah thanks, I remember reading about needing to wait for a bit when first booting sneek2o but forgot about that

I'll copy sneek2o (built with ModMii so there shouldn't be a problem with Priiloader) back to my SD card and be more patient next time I try it. ;)

It's not only sneek2o. You will need to copy the nand folders over to your sd card as well.

Alright I'm having some difficulty here and I hope someone can help me out. My intentions are to run WiiWare/VC wads. Initially I tried doing this using PostLoader. Turned out that PL had issues with some of the N64 VC wads I tried. I was to understand that using an emulated nand would be the best option. I already had a nand setup and loaded with wads I just needed the sneek stuff. So I tried to do a neek2o setup that would work with PL. I had no luck. In fact in trying to make it work I decided to update PL and now that won't even work from my USB hard drive anymore (but that's a different issue for a different thread). So now I tried to take PL out of the equation and tried to just get a uneek+di setup working.

My Wii is hacked with the latest cioses and everything. I can post a syscheck if necessary. I can tell you though I have bootmii as boot2 installed.

I used ModMii to try and set this up and that generated two folders. copy_to_sd and copy_to_usb. I put the SD stuff on my 1gb SD card and renamed bootmiisneek folder. Then I put all the USB stuff on the fat32 partition of my USB drive (I have two partitions a fat32 set to primary and active and an NTFS with my games kept in a wbfs folder). Now intially I had my nand stored in a folder labeled pl_us and that folder was inside a folder labeled nands which was stored on the root of the fat32. I renamed the pl_us folder to just nand1. Also I read somewhere you needed at least one game on the fat32 parition in order for this to work so I took one of my .iso games from my NTFS partition converted it to .wbfs and stuck it in the root of the wbfs folder I created on the root of my fat32 partition. Despite all this it won't boot. My screen stays blank and after a short period the Wii drive will just start blinking. Also I even considered that possibility that my hard drive might be slow to start up even though I've never had issues with it before so I even tried booting to bootmii from HBC and still same result. Blank screen with flashing disc drive.

If it helps I'm mainly looking just to run WiiWare/VC wads at this time. I'm happy with the way CFG can read and run all my games off the NTFS partition of USB hard drive. Also, althought I can't PL to work the way I want it to right now, once I do I'd want to have this neek2o setup work with PL, however it may do so I'm not sure but one step at a time.

I am currently running a neek2o setup and had the same issues the first attempt to set it up. I am using a WD 1.5 tb hard drive and just to double check my formating I had to remove all my games, Reformat it again to fat 32, 32kb cluster size. It booted quickly the first time and I never had an issue after that. Just make sure your sneek folder is on the root of your sd and your hdd.

i have mine.(snes,n64,sega..ect) loaded on my nand just as they would be onthe main menu.( my nands are set up as the emulatiors).it takes around 4 more seconds to boot the nand, then normal. all the games play great with no problems. just as they do on real nand. the way i load them on my nand is open showmii wads/ nand.. have your wads in a folder, when thenand you want is loaded, highlight the wads you want, then drag an drop on to showmii nands, at the bottom of the window, you'll see blue writing. hit the install button. depending on how many you are putting on the nand it take 1-5 min, to load them on that nand. after that unplug an start neek2o you should see all the games you loaded.. this will even work on a nand thats just built an has been open before.

My FAT32 partition is formatted with a 32KB cluster size. My 1GB SD card and my NTFS partition on my USB hard drive both have a 4KB cluster size. So unless my SD card or NTFS partition need to be a different cluster size I still then have no idea what the problem could be.
