okay, so I'll allow nands for neek2o s\uneek+di to be 4.2/4.3 for all regions. Do you happen to know which are supported by the original neek, is it still 4.2/4.3-U/E?

What would happen if loading a non-supported firmware? Just no system menu hacks? Is that a deal breaker or should I support 4.1 also?

No system menu hacks, that is sure. I don't know if original neek supports 4.1. Will test it out.

Original neek has only the hacks for 4.2/4.3 e/u only. It's no problem to support 4.1 (only no region free then). I will add the region hacks for 4.1 in the next rev

If the hacks are handled by Priiloader, do they need to be done by neek2o as well?
You always have people that don't use priiloader, but it allows to enable and disable every hack individualy.
New hacks will likely come out as hack files for priiloader. What am I missing here?
Can anyone confirm that neek2o AND the original neek work properly with ANY region 4.1/4.2/4.3 emulated nand when running sneek+di and uneek+di?

As I mentioned earlier there was a reason behind why ModMii only permits 4.2/4.3-PAL/USA nands when building uneek+di and sneek+di, I'm pretty sure it was because other region system menu hacks were not embedded in neek directly, but it sounds like this isn't an issue anymore (or never was).

Thx in advance to anyone able to shed some light on this for me :D
original NEEK setup with other NAND regions (JPN, KOR) will work. It made me ask myself, why ModMii wont let me use any other NANDS besides USA and EUR, although it works perfectly fine. And as of priiloader SM hacks, they work with zero issues in all regions. I only tried enabling the "Region Free" and "Save Protection" else, never tried others.

Nobody said it won't work. The only thing is that original neek without priiloader = no region free hacks on JPN and KOR nands

1) I added a lot of Wiiware to the NAND (about 200 titles) using showmiiwads, but then NEEK2O/UNEEK stops with a black screen at loading time. If I add only a few Wiiware, then it loads. What can it be ? If it could be a single WAD causing the hang, is there a program to check WADs validity ?
Nope, to make sure its valid, install them in your NEEK2O nand with MMM or another WAD installer.
OK, I will try. But can you confirm that, for my case, the only reason NEEK2O hangs while loading is due to a bad WAD and not because of the high number of installed WAD in the nand ?
loading wiiware/vc and checking now...will let you know later
Im having problems with a 7.8GB nand; the same one I tested many times with Snort48+ under uneek+di so I know it used to work but after a few transfer back and forth from pc to hdd it no longer works. The main issue here is apps like Mighty Channels or PL3 see it just fine but neek no longer recognizes it :(
OK, had the same problem, after adding a lot of wiiware/vc games...
What i tried after was deleting games (with ShowMiiWads) up to a point where the nand would load again in neek2o.
But it didn't anymore, not even when i deleted all games..

I guess obcd was right, it was a bad WAD, at least in my case..i did not try MC to see it if loaded the nand.
Now i am going to add games more slowly to see where it goes wrong..

Is there any app that can help me transfer my WW/VC game saves for to another nand? Keep in mind I cannot use this nand with neek of any kind only apps like Mighty Channels/PL3/Triiforce. So it all has to be done from pc but all I see is folders with numbers and i'm unaware which ones belong to which games.

Showmiiwads can do this.

Select showmiinand in the options, make sure you have the NAND path of the old NAND, then highlight all the WW/VC you want to backup the savegame from. Then click right, choose the savegame option, then "backup" (NOTE: I recently switched nands, and noticed that just clicking right and using the "backup all" option doesn't include the WW/VC games, so that won't work).

This'll store the correct folders in a subfolder of showmiiwads.
Then open up the path of the new nand, and choose restore - all.
(of course the same WW/VC needs to be installed there, but that's a given).

I prefer to make it as functional as possible at this moment. Using modmii as guidance is already a great help for the setup.
I must agree things can still improve for noobs.
A question...is it possible to allow neek2o to run on FAT32 partitions with a 64 bit cluster size? This is the default value in EASEUS partition master (not sure about other programs), so if it could be added, it would mean that at least some peeps won't have to reformat their drive anymore.

I guess it would be easier than adding ntfs to it.
The problem with this sort of things is that it never stops. Next, People will ask to add 4Kb sector size for harddisks bigger than 1.5 Tb.
Finally, they will ask for NTFS, EX2 and EX3 support.

Don't get me wrong. I don't mind adding it to a list of things we can (try to do), but it doesn't have high priority at the moment.
Partitionning and formatting your harddisk is something you need to do once. There still exist a number of issues with some harddisks that need to be solved.
Adding other Cluster and Sector formats will simply increase the complexity of these issues. I prefer to have them solved first, or at least to have a way to find
out if your harddisk is one of those bad boys.

Another problem we are facing is that the kernel ES module needs to fit in the code space of the original one we replace.
Usb loaders have a lot more freedom about what memory they can use. So adding support in there for other partitionning systems is easier.

To be honest, while another sector and Cluster size might be doable, other partitionning systems are out of the question due to code space limitations.

Can a USB Gecko be plugged in while booting with the default settings? If not, how do you go about changing the settings and compiling so that a USB Gecko can be used? Thanks!

Use Sneek Installer by Crediar to build the modules with verbose output enabled

So what's the difference between the Backup All & Backup options; what all is backup all backing up?

Also thanks for the info Wever :) I'm sorry will this also backup the DLC for my games?
Does under Options< Subfolders need to be checked?

I'm not sure what "verbose output" does, but I've just tried it, and it didn't do what I wanted it to do, lol. Basically, I just want to leave the USB Gecko in slot B without having to pull it out from the wii every time I run sneek. The default settings make it so that the system locks up when it detects the USB Gecko, until some action has been performed by the user. According to conanac(youtube.com/watch?v=9PD5JNTbVnE), removing gecko links can let you boot sneek with the device plugged in, but I'm not sure how to do this...

Great job neek2o team.

I have uneek + di installed and running fine for a long time from usb hd, now what do i need to install to convert it to neek2o?

I have downloaded all usb related .elf from google code cutom-di.

Also i renamed the bootmii folder to backup_bootmii,
created a new folder usb:\\nands\nand1
and copied all the uneek folders to it as per custom-di wiki

can someone give me a quick tips on how to boot the neek2o?

Thanks...

The easiest way is to use modmii. It defaults to using our elf files and creating neek2o instead of neek.
If you use the Crediar installer with our elf files, you will become neek2o as well. kernel.bin goes into sd//sneek and usb:/sneek. di.bin in usb:/sneek.
On our google page, you will find an application and a channel to boot into neek2o.
Make sure you delete the diconfig.bin before you run it. If your games folder is empty, delete it. Make sure you have at least 1 wbfs game in the wbfs folder.

@leic7. If I open my usb gecko virtual comport with putty, sneek starts fine with the usb gecko plugged in. I haven't found a way yet to make it boot with the usb gecko in and the port not opened.
It should work with other applications monitoring the gecko output as well.

use ModMii
from main menu type "s", then "1", then the rest is self explanatory.
When it's done building neek2o, rename (or delete) the old sneek folders on your sd card and usb hdd to something else and copy over the new folders ModMii made for u.

then install this channel to load neek
http://custom-di.googlecode.com/files/neek2o_NK2O.wad

or u can just use this app instead of the channel
http://custom-di.googlecode.com/files/nswitch.rar
