Lately I've been watching too much of Jim Sterling's videos with crap games on Steam and all and got a few ideas on how to polish some concepts I have, so I'm thinking of working on a couple of them and hopefully finishing them for once before I get bored and stop halfway through like I've done well over 5000 times already... plus I need some reliable quick income for the next 4 months until I can get assigned a job by my Uni.
Anyway, the engines I currently have I can use and own the highest tier of paid version for them (for the ones that have such things) are Unity 3D, Cryengine, Game Maker Studio, RPG Maker (entire line and all other Kadokawa Entertainment engines too) and Unreal Engine. For starters, I'm curious to know about what kinds of games would be best for each engine. I want to make a 3D game for once since most of the time I'm trying to make 2D or 2.5D games, so that leaves Unity, Cryengine (for things besides just pure FPSs), GMS (although 3D games on there are a pain) and Unreal, so what types of games do you think would suit them most?
I'll probably be using Mixamo for most if not all character models, so I'm interested in an engine that supports the models from that. Additionally, looking for an engine that allows to manually create a large game world without it being a literal pain to do so (eg: Unity is annoying a hell to make a huge 3D map properly without tons of bugs and other things happening) and one that also comes with decent world physics (meaning one that doesn't need too much tweaking on them from how they come as default). First game I'm thinking of making will be an FPS RPG so I need to have stuff like inventories and everything, along with an easily implemented experience mechanic. Finally, I don't have too much free time to work on it really, so I prefer one that doesn't involve too much programming/coding. So, what engine would work best with something like that? Considering Unreal, but haven't used it in almost a decade so I'll need to learn it all over again... Trying to find the best options, don't want to start working on it only for it to not work properly in the end.
PS: Will also need a good program to make 3D objects for items, weapons, etc. in the game, so if you know of any that work with many different engines, let me know.
EDIT: I forgot to include that I plan to have underwater parts in levels and underwater combat (like hand to hand), so gonna prioritize for engines that allow that.
