Hacking Need help following Plailect Guide - Installing arm9loaderhax

I have an Old 3ds, I've done everything up to this point in the guide and I am stuck trying to figure out this section. My backup was version 4.2U and as stated in the guide my firmware now is on 2.1

* Delete both of these files after updating your 3DS

What does it mean updating your 3DS? Like via internet "System Settings, then “Other Settings”, then going all the way to the right and using “System Update”?

if you managed to have a9lh then Luma plus it says on system settings as "sys2.1" then you are good to go, just update like you normally would with a non-hacked 3DS..

At that step, I tried a system update but it errors out. What do I do now? It doesn't update so I'm still on system 2.1

try using your mobile phone's internet to update..that's what i did..let me know how it goes..

My bad. I must of scrolled to far and missed step 1 of "Installing arm9loaderhax - Section IV Restoring the System". I did that step and then it rebooted to a black screen with blue light. I then powered off the 3DS and executed step 2.

I almost thought I bricked my 3DS cause guide didn't say it would just sit at "black screen with blue light" without step 2.
