Hello,

I'm trying to set up the homepass on a Sony Vaio Model #PCG-7133L running Windows Vista. I'm the only user on the laptop and when I get to the step to right click the cmd program and type in

"netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=attwifi key=password"

I keep getting this error

"The following command was not found: wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=attwifi key=password"

Not sure what I'm doing wrong as I keep trying to retype it, thinking I misspelled something, but every time it gives me the same error. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Philip

right click cmd program ? I'm guessing you're trying to run cmd with parameters

Run cmd as administrator a command line appears there you type netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=attwifi key=password

I have been right clicking and running as administrator. I did a little investigation and typed in netsh wlan set ? which displays the list of valid commands. Hostednetwork does not come up as a valid command.

Seems you're right, I looked it up

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755301(v=ws.10).aspx
this is manual for same version as in vista looks like netsh in vista doesn't support this command

and this is description for same as in windows 7 version which has this command
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744890(v=ws.10).aspx#bkmk_wlanSetHostedNet
from remarks.
This Netsh command is new in Windows Server 2008 R2 and cannot be run on computers running Windows Server 2008.

Personally I'd try using the method on xp tutorial or use some other way to set up routing.

I've also found this might help you with setting things up
http://cnettv.cnet.com/make-your-laptop-hot-spot/9742-1_53-28619.html

just remember you need to set your ssid (network name?) to attwifi
For mac changing i'm guessing software on website should do the trick. Personally though i've got that far and didn't get any streetpassess maybe you'll have more luck.
