ok so I have successfully modded my Wii using various tuts across the net. the problems I am having

I cannot get the wii to find my external HDD but yet it will recognise the micro sd card when put into a usb adapter.

I will get a mismatch id error with certain games.

as far as I am aware I have done everything right

please note I have tried Uloader Wiiflow USB cfg loader (can get some games working)

Please help

Is it an HDD in an enclosure or a full external drive? Have you tried fooling around with the jumpers if there are any available to you (Master/Slave/Cable Select? Master or Cable Select should work fine)? Have you verified that the drive is not going into Sleep Mode, which is a common issue? Have you tried using a different cable (I suffered from that problem - the cable that came with the enclosure worked fine with my PC but refused to work with the Wii. Swapping it with another worked wonders, believe it or not)? Are you sure that the partition settings are correct?

Yes, use ModMii. You could also try GAF's homebrew tutorial. It's what I did and it worked perfectly :)
so whats the hammer for? :creep: :rofl2:

I think it's a clever ploy to get people to click on this link. I actually have a large hammer, but I'm not lending it out to anybody; it's so special. :P

I only have 1 usb cable that will fit it unfourtunately :(, Yes I am using port 0 (the outermost port) I have also tried port 1, Partitions I have tried NTFS WBFS Fat32 and different combinations of the three. How do I check if my External HDD is not going into sleep mode, I have checked to see if the hard drive is compatable on the compatabillity list and a 1 TB of the same model does work so I know it isn't an issue with the hdd.

The hammer is for smashing up the wii pc and external hdd getting so frustrated with it you would not belive

If usb stick works fine then there is something fishy about external hdd.
Format it FAT32 and show us partition table (sfdisk -d).

I doubt a noob will understand what you mean by (sfdisk -d). It's not even on Windows by default.

The wii doesnt detect it at all.. I have checked the compatabillity list and the 1 terrabyte hard drive same version as my own only difference mine is 500 gb is recorded as working :/ I will be getting a neww external hdd comes already formatted to fat32 for my birthday anyway so will report back if that works but still want my older one to work

and as I said before it isn't an actual usb flash drive but an sd card adaptor that attaches into the usb port, and no u r right I don't know what sfdisk is so please feel free to explain
