Try Windows XP Performance Edition. Very light and fully functional.

Ok, i just reinstalled XP Pro last night along with grabbing SP3. (and installing some required things... winrar, chrome etc)

Now, my question about Performance Edition-
Is it pretty much just a SMALLER version of XP?
I did some quick checking, and it looks like it's just removing a lot of useless preinstalled garbage... and i couldn't find anything about if things have been edited for quicker response. I hope that makes sense.

I'm wondering if it would be worth it for me to grab this and reinstall again already, or if i should just stick with my current run.

If anyone else has insight into Performance Edition, please let me know

(ps, i tried Windows 7 Tine edition a while back, and it just fucked with my computer in irritating ways... i'm wondering if XP PE is like 7Tiny)

if you use nlite, you can pick and choose what you want to remove/tweak from xp with pretty much no consequences.

i removed tons of things, and never had a problem (and was using the copy on more than 1 computer too), and used it up until last year when i got my laptop.

however, if it runs fine, dont change anything and do what Edhel says and just tweak when needed

i recommend windows xp media center edition...
its windows xp with an extra software layer, media center, which is perfect for use on such computers.
you can even get a remote control for it

and of course at all time you can just exit the media center and come back to XP. (media center is just an app that runs full screen)

Ubuntu isn't an option for lightweighness nowadays. It's getting quite bloated.

I recently got a clunker computer for free, and am going to put Xubuntu on it. It makes the clunker run a dream!
