Well, if you don't mind, I am going to hijack this thread.

I have been looking for something to record my games in HD (right now I just have one of those cheap easycap things, which are shit) and I stumbled upon this: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?...N82E16815100049

I just wanted to know if anyone has tried this, and/or if it would work for me?

BTW, I'm using Win 7 64-bit

So what exactly is the best option not to have lag? If I'm not recording, will it still lag, or not?
If you're still asking this question, it's because you didn't bother looking at the thread i posted earlier, here it is (again):

(you'll find a list of suggested product inside)
Lag is independent from whether you're recording or not, it is simply because of how it works.

If your computer is strong enough, i don't see why it wouldn't work for you. Look at the feedback left on newegg, it's pretty informative on the problems most consumer encounter.

It'll still lag over USB IIRC, and it's more of a latency issue. It'll take a second or so for a movement on your controller to register on the screen,

The best thing to do is go internal, not USB.
I tried it with a pci and a pcie video capture card and they lag too, I can't say if it's worse than usb though.

Thanks, I didn't see that. It looks like I'll probably get it.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
