It seems to have swear words down to a tea, i just typed in "shit" and it gives all the examples of it.
Click the word shit and the girl actually says it, and on the top screen you get all the definitions.
Movement, waste material, dirt, poop,
"not worth a ~"
"i don't give a ~"
"scared the ~ out of me"
"knock the ~ out of you"
"when the ~ hits the fan"

I'd love to see Nintendo make "learning x language" games. I'd be great for those wanting to learn a new/different language. Well, depends on how well it works.

. just write in a cuss word and hold it up to some random stranger or a friend and see thier reaction LOL

Yeah, this is supposed to be like the first Rakubiki Jiten, but with the added functionality of searching by your hand-written Kanji...

As far as having the same content, it seems like they changed the lineup of dictionaries they got their entries from, but it's still three, and the number of entries is "roughly" the same...

(although I do recall reading that there are less total entries in the new Rakubiki, maybe I was wrong)

Wow, this is awesome. Of course I don't know if there are any drawbacks, but these things normally cost around $200.

I don't think it really compares to a proper electronic dictionary, but the big selling point for this software is the kanji handwriting recognition which means you can look up words which you see but do not know the kanji, or how to pronounce them. This is really useful for foreigners, but probably also for Japanese people for looking up uncommon kanji/compounds.

I have PDA software which does this and it is the best feature a Japanese electronic dictionary could have if you are not Japanese. But the kanji recognition on this is excellent (probably the same as the Japanese Brain Training games).. you can write quite badly, with wrong stroke order or direction and it still seems to pick out the right one. It's better than my PDA, which relies on pretty accurate strokes to find the kanji you're after (although that does help you to learn them properly).

Unfortunately this dictionary as a whole isn't very useable for non-Japanese people with low level of Japanese, except for very simple translations (and looking up swear words). The jump feature is only for English words, and the quality of some of the translations are also questionable - my Japanese friends who can speak English very well were not so impressed with the original Rakubiki Jiten's translations! But if you are a serious Japanese speaker who is quite advanced already and/or you already have a DS it is a cheap alternative to buying a proper electronic dictionary.

They have some more language software coming out this month, but it seems to be just for travelling/translating phrases like the PSP Talkman game - hopefully it'll implement the microphone too. Unfortunately, they're releasing it in individual language packs.. ie. one title for JP-English, another for JP-Korean, another for JP-Chinese, etc so its not really appropriate for non-Japanese speakers (whereas the Talkman can be used to translate from any language on this to any of the other languages).

btw - the practice kanji writing/calligraphy game I believe is called Bimoji Trainer DS.. not sure when it's coming out though

all you need to know i a proper way to draw kanji's and you have the answer
