It's only glossy on the top (i think).
EDIT: Famitsu confirmed that the DSi XL is glossy on top, but (more) matte (compared to the original DSi) on the bottom for more grip.
Also, Famitsu revealed that the DSi has 3 fixed screen positions, compared to the DS lite's and DSi's 2 screen positions.

I found this picture on Google:

oh ok i like the glossy top i dont mind it being a fingure print magnet. i hope nicer colors get releades

EZ5i confirmed to work also on DSi LL.
Sounds like this console has the same hardware than the DSi, so all flashcarts that are able to run under 1.4J firmware will run also on DSi LL.

I will be not suprised to see a new firmware update soon on DSi shop.

Problem is, more anti-piracy measures might be added since their last design.
I doubt it. The DSi LL is just a bigger DSi with a better battery life. They confirmed that when some Japanese site opened it up.

so if u use a flashcart with this device, u can just play english based games right ?

Only issue would be if u wanna use the normal DS menus then unless u know japanese it would be an issue? If i only wanted to play back ups and never use the store and what not it should work i assume ?

Based on everything I've seen, read and experienced first hand, the LL is an excellent investment for the DS gamer who prefers to do more playing at home. It doesn't feel terrifically heavy, looks gorgeous and just about every flash cart on the market works. The likelihood that I'll be running to Yodabashi Camera around Christmas time and making my wife extremely happy just shot up 200%.

Here's hoping that the DSi LL is identical to the XL.

Also, since I have no working DS, should I buy this, or should I buy a regular DSi?

It does not matter at all which one they are the same but just different size (sorta ipod and ipod nano thing)

But if you wanna play dsi only games you will need to get the jap version if you import

I bought the DSi LL Natural White from Play-Asia and I received it earlier today then I gave my Nintendo DSL to my sister. My eyes are failing me sometimes that's my only reason why I bought it..... It's quite heavy and I can't play it while lying on my back anymore. I tried using my Acekard2i and Ezflash Vi and no problems so far. Now, I'm waiting for Final Fantasy XIII (Japanese) to make my Christmas complete. Cheers!

1. It's not like the iPod and iPod nano thing. The DSi LL has longer battery life, but has pretty much the same hardware (but bigger).
The normal iPod uses a hard drive. The iPod nano uses flash memory.
2. Why do I need a Japanese DSi to play DSi-only games?
