Two weeks worth, didn't feel that there was enough for a thread next week

<!--coloro:Purple--><span style="color:Purple"><!--/coloro--><b><u>Read to know when a game could be dumped:</u>
These dates are what retailers say is out unless stated otherwise, sometimes they make dates up for pre-ordering purposes. These dates could also be "shipping dates" which usually means that that's the date when games get shipped to stores so a game could either be in stores on that day or after. Some games may get delayed some others not listed may appear but at the moment of posting these are correct. Also just because a game is released in stores it doesn't mean that they'll appear on our internets but NA titles usually appear on our 'nets Wednesday night UK time. Free internet game to DS #2 only this one looks a lot more worthy of our cash.

An update to the beloved and award winning flash-game N, N+ brings the action platformer to the Nintendo DS with all the features of the cult favourite and more. Faithfully translating the old-school look and action of the online game to the DS and PSP, N+ will have players leaping and avoiding obstacles using the excellent physics and collision detection while they scour each level for as much gold as they can reach before finding the switch and opening the door to the next challenging level.

So what is new? 200 single player levels, 100 Co-op levels & 50 Competitive levels. Pure & Plus modes. Pure is the N look that featured in the free PC game and the Plus is more enhanced and exclusive to the DS/PSP versions. As well as that there is a N server so you download even more levels that fellow people have made with the built the included Level Editor. So yeah looks like a worthy purchase.

<b>Expect another delay? A Gonintendo reader who has pre-ordered the title off Amazon has received an email saying that "Estimated arrival date: 09/09/2008 - 09/15/2008" so if it doesn't appear in the stores, don't be surprised but still...this will really piss me off</b>

<!--sizeo:4--><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo--><b>Bangai-O Spirits</b><!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

<b>Region</b> North America <b>Genre:</b> Puzzle Shooter/level creator
<b>Developer:</b> Treasure <b>Publisher:</b> D3

Looking for a true sequel to Bangai-O on the N64/Dreamcast? You won't find it here. Simple short 30-45 second levels replace the longer 2-3 minute ones. Boss battles have gone and so has most of the fun. Imagine if Nintendo did a "Super Mario Bros Spirits" game, the level starts, 10 Koopas appear and there is a shell in front of you, you kick the shell into the Koopas and you're onto the next level. Super Mario Bros Spirits is to Super Mario Bros what Bangai-O Spirits is to Bangai-O. Major disappointment, if only Treasure told us about this before hand, then I may have been more open to this game game.

This version isn't about the single player mode though, its more about community and sharing. Create you level (please someone remake the DC ones <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />) and then post it on the net but the way you do it is much different to what other games have done. The level you save is actually saved as a sound file and that is the way you share it! The way the DS picks the level up is by the mic. Ok it would have been easier to do it in other ways but this is different and a good idea.

The 150 levels will be a doddle for some people and impossible to others, some won't like the simple "enter level, shoot an object, see explosions repeat" theme to each and those long-time Bangai-O veterans (like me) will hate the single player mode but there is fun to be had with the level creator. See it as a budget priced community title and not a proper single player game. To be honest for me its not worth a purchase, more effort should have been done to the single player mode, what there is feels like an after thought. It is however worth the space on a flashcart, but do yourself a favour and get a Dreamcast & a copy of the original.

<b>Region</b> North America <b>Genre:</b> Just a "shed" load of line drawing fun...sorry about the pun
<b>Developer:</b> InXile Entertainment <b>Publisher:</b> Genius Products, Inc.

Yet another title that is based on a free internet game, this one is more of a flash toy.

Line Rider allows players to construct their own track filled with as many ramps, hills, and jumps as they can imagine utilizing a pencil tool. Once the player is done creating their course, they can send a virtual sledder down the route until he wipes out.

This time it has a more colourful, cartoony look to it to the plain black lines on a white background and also there will be cut scenes to flesh out some kind of tacked on story. It is also said to have one of the best electronic soundtracks of any recent game but will this be enough to warrant the full price tag? I'm not sure.

<b>Region</b> North America <b>Genre:</b> American Football
<b>Developer:</b> Tiburon <b>Publisher:</b> EA

Celebrating 20 Years of Innovation, Madden NFL 09 delivers its most fun and exciting football package ever for the NDS, combining Wi-Fi multiplayer games and Rec Room minigames with all-new Family Play, featuring an easy-to-use game control system. With an all-new tri-level play calling system, plus the new Last-Minute Miracle mini-game, the franchise takes its next leap in bringing you the greatest football experience on the go with Madden NFL 09.

The last game was apparently decent. No screens or videos sadly. <b>Also I'm not sure if this is out this week but various sites say it is so if it comes out yay for you if not don't moan.</b>

Also out is:

Ok its not the real boxart.

That's it, no Japanese games and the only Europe ones are Madden & The Woodleys Summer Sports which has already been dumped.

Ok this week it is DEFINITELY coming out...I'm serious this time...or is it? This was due way back from Lexicon but something happened with their distributors apparently, maybe something to do with stores not really wanting to stock it.

Thing is I want to slap a "Void" stamp on it just for the cheek of not only copying the game style but also the art of it as well and not adding NOTHING but I want more of these run and gun games so I'll just pretend its a fan game.

To be honest I wasn't really into Metal Slug 7 so I'm hoping that this'll scratch my MS itch.

<b>Developer:</b> Square Enix <b>Publisher:</b> Square Enix

Square Enix does another DS game that isn't a port/remake! From Hiroki Chiba and Nakaaki who did Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus.

You play as Sigma, a normal every day student. One day, someone rewrites your past, causing some major chaos with all areas of your present. Working with your friend Neon, you've got to use your puzzle solving skills to return your world to normal.

Its a mix of RPG & adventure. You explore, do detective work solving puzzles. The battles & exploring make the the RPG side of the game, the more battles you take part in the more chance of levelling up. Famitsu says its good giving it 31/40. No news of a release outside of Japan.

<b>Region:</b> North America <b> Genre:</b> Dungeon crawler

How many times has this title been pushed back?

Mazes of Fate spans the length and breadth of a huge, dynamic world, and tells an epic story of magic and conspiracy, with more than a hundred characters you can interact with, an hour of original music featuring thirty-five different themes, and twenty-five hours of gameplay.

Well like many people I played the BETA rom of this GBA to DS remake and I can't say I liked it to be honest, seemed really really dull and I like these first person RPG games but many did so by all means give it a go. Maybe I'll give it another go too.

Who elses thinks that this should be a WiiWare title?

Line Rider allows players to construct their own track filled with as many ramps, hills, and jumps as they can imagine utilizing a pencil tool. Once the player is done creating their course, they can send a virtual sledder down the route until he wipes out.

Like the DS version there will be a story mode which has many levels already drawn where you have to fill in gaps and so on. Maybe not worth £34 but its should still be a lot of fun to play.

Cars made by Ford are shit...FACT but still the brand doesn't deserve a shitty game by Empire.

Ford Racing Off Road takes the multi-million selling Ford franchise away from the tracks and urban streets of its predecessors to rugged and tough terrain for the very first time. Ford Racing Off Road also marks the introduction of the prestigious Land Rover brand, which, like Ford, has a long heritage of producing pioneering off road vehicles. Players can now race some of the world's toughest off road trucks, 4x4's and SUVs through detailed environments, stunning scenery, and wide, sweeping tracks designed for high-speed racing. Features like real-time, on-the-go vehicle damage repair, faster acceleration than any previous Ford game, and alternative routes create a plethora of new and exclusive opportunities to test players driving prowess at high speeds.

12 race modes: Standard Race, Elimination, Time Attack, Overtake, Slalom, Checkpoint, Checkpoint Sprint, Seconds Out, Gold Rush, Gauntlet, Low Damage Race and Expedition. Well it could be good but going by previous Ford Racing games I'd say it won't be.

I reckon we could do with more of these titles, perhaps Nintendo could make Jet Impulse/Wii Air?

Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk is an arcade style air combat, set in a futuristic universe. The game is designed to quickly immerse players in scenarios of non stop combat. Pilot a wide variety of aircraft and earn points for a chance to fly top secret planes equipped with devastating weapons. Your missions will all be unique and challenging so you'll need the right stuff to be a true Rebel Raider.

The PC version was alright, wasn't among the best but it was alright. The PS2 version however didn't get good ratings and this appears to be a port of that version. *sigh*. The Wii has very few of these games so could be a nice addition.

Also out on this day is <b>Super Pick Ups</b> which is a racer, no screens or much details do will probably be like most Wii racers.

That is all, no thread next week as I added those games to this one BUT there will be a special thread from me next week which I am just finishing.

Just noticed that Ford Off Road Racing is the same as the just released Wii title Off.Road.PAL.Wii-GLoBAL.

I don't see why you gave Bangai-o Spirits that bad review: everyone, everywhere else seem to be crazy about that game. It got the highest score at Action Button and they seem to hate almost everything there.

We will live on, in spirit — in Bangai-O spirit.

That last line always cracks me up.

BTW, I never played the first game so It's not like I know what to expect or anyhting. I keep reading good reviews everywhere, but the videos at youtube don't look that much fun. I've been waiting for it to come out for almost a year though, since I'm a Treasure fanboy.

Hadrian is a hater of this game since the first day even when he didn't play with it.
Another good review here:

I've been wanting N+ for a bit now, as for line rider, I'll probably give it a try, and commando steel, I'll see how everyone else feels about it.

Thanks Hadrian!

Well that's a big fat lie right there, I was the first person here to hype it up, it even got an approved when I featured the Japanese version. I've been banging on about this game way before everyone else jumped onto it since late last year when Treasure did a countdown to the announcement.

Then I played the Japanese version and was really disappointed with it. I don't hate it, just wanted it to be more like the original.

I didn't give it a bad review at all, re-read it again I even recommend having it on a flashcart, just not worth spending money on it. Making & getting levels is fun.

Making levels with it is good but that's all really & I'm not the only person out there who feels the same way. The Japanese gave it very average reviews when it came out over there and if you check the release thread for the Japanese version you'll see I'm not the only one.

Its just MY opinion people, I'm sure there are many games that everyone seems to like but you don't. Hell I'm even gonna give the US version a go, I am desperate to love this game as I loved the original so much, only this time I'll see it as a different game like it is.

I thought Line Rider 2 was delayed 'til September - when it's supposed to show up on WiiWare as well?

Its not WiiWare, I just said it should be. And yeah its down for September 16, just that the publisher haven't updated their website.

Looking forward to N+ and Bangai-O spirits.
Hopefully Commando Steel Disaster will be good too.
