Well lately my dog ate my remote, and now i have to get up to change the channels (THE HORROR!) so i was wondering if anyone knows an application where i could change my tv's channel, or volume, or turn it on.
I know its possible because its possible to create a tv remote from an old ipod nano, so im wondering if anyone has made it.

wtf?? LOL ate is in chewed up or ate is in swallowed?
Half and half lol. He ate and i think he swallowed most of the top, and the bottom was left to die. . .

Damn, i hate Dealextreme, they may have good prices, but their shipping takes forever. i guess ill order one from amazon if theres one really cheap.

It's very rude to call others an idiot when you don't even know what an IR is.

common sense?

dude, it's common sense that your firmwares will fail.
why don't you go call yourself an idiot?

and people with average knowledge won't know the limits of hardwares. Everybody knows that you don't know deeply into tech, either.

wait, will you add a TV remote support in your firmwares???

How am i an idiot? Because i saw a How To on how to create a remote from an ipod using sounds that were recorded than put into a special format and then able to use an IR Transmitter(If im right) to send it to the television to change the channel or lower the volume? Yes, im definetly an idiot for thinking someone couldnt make something similar. Man i am an idiot! i guess i should read the rules and not flame anyone! Heh, to think i was smart!
-Sarcasm-
Also, if everyone used your 'common sense' we wouldnt have flashcards or things like moonshell, homebrew on the wii/twilight hack now would we? Thinking outside the box helps out.

If your refering to This how-to then it seems quite plausable to convert a DS into a remote, follow the tutorial but instead of an Ipod just plug the 'Griffins IR device' into the DS and play the "sounds" using moonshell.

balrogs, you'll understand if you know who hexane26 is.
hexane26 = beve, and beve = noob
don't worry, nobody is on his side.
Everyone hates Beve Hexane26!
He was gonna be for my 1000th post.
But, they locked it. YOU DARE CRITISIZE! LOL SCRIPT KIDDY!

Anyway: Sorry, can't be done. I think.
Depends, It's possible to control a TV over WiFi, but that's not how any normal TVs are controlled.
I SHOULD be possible with a GBA homebrew and its wireless adapter.
