I think 9 slots is the maximum you can have. 10 slots wouldn't fit on the screen. I've mostly completed the game with a couple mini games left to finish.

Yeah, it's only 9. I just bought the last slot, as a matter of fact.

OK, thanks folks. I was just reading the money-making guides on the PVZ wiki which seem to be aimed at the PC version. They say 10 slots for the final stand mini-game makes it easier. Now I know there's no need to hold my breath (and save money) for the 10th slot.

quickest way to make money with ds is the zen garden
get the plants up a level with watering and fertilizer
then change days
grow them to when they give you diamonds then sell the plant and buy more seeds

Aye, that's what I've been doing - minus changing the date/time on the DS.
I have bought up all the goods that way, except for maxing the Tree of Wisdom.
Thanks.

Last Stand on DS is ridiculously easy. Easily achievable with 9 slots.

It wasn't THAT easy for me. I bet you didn't do it on your first try. Last Stand and Pogo Fever(?) were the hardest IMO.

As for me, i mostly earn money from Survival (Day) Endless games, with gold magnet and marigolds and ton of Corn Cobs and frozen melon pults. i kinda didn't wanna sell plants. i've bought everything that i can buy only once, so that leaves fertilizers and bug sprays (and that rake).

Most coinfarming guides for the Last Stand minigame will not be possible then. Oh boo. They could've just moved the sun tracker to the bottom of the screen, or on the top screen.

Yup, got a hard time with Last Stand, but I finally managed. I'm not gonna give away all of my strategy, but think... magnets! (and coffee beans obviously...)
it may be expensive but in the end it makes things so much easier that you don't really need a lot of shooters (think I got gatling peas for all rows and some tall nuts as well...)
