nds-bootstrap reaches v1.0.0, now boots "Golden Sun: Dark Dawn"
For those unaware, nds-bootstrap is a 3DS homebrew application that allows the user to run either DS, DSi, DSiWare ROMs and/or DS/DSi homebrew natively through a DSi/3DS SD card. The app has seen many iterations through the years, and it has certainly been one of the most developed and long-lasting homebrew apps that are still going strong years after the 3DS has been discontinued.
Today, nds-bootstrap's main developer, @RocketRobz, has released main version 1.0.0 of the application, as well as updating its sister application TWiLight Menu++ to v26.1.0. The main and most important update that comes with this main version is the full compatibility for "Golden Sun: Dark Dawn", which held a long-standing issue where several nested anti-piracy checks for the game eluded playability of the title for years, simply booting into a black screen before. After a lot of research and debugging involving this title, Robz and user Gericom (GBARunner2/3 dev), both developers managed to put together a definitive patching method for the game to boot properly after more than 5 years, getting rid of the original faulty "AP-fix" patch that was floating online for the game, and while the original AP fix patch worked for flashcards, it still didn't bypass all the checks properly to make it run without issues through other means.
The update also comes with several bugfixes to other games and programs, so be sure to check it out and discuss it in nds-bootstrap's own thread, as it also supports a wide variety of DSiWare titles!
