Hi gys,

The people at sky2k.com just emailed me this:

*********************
We have updated the item description of the product. Feel free to visit it
at:

http://sky2k.com/shop/nds-11-512mb-p-191.html

DS-X has not been shipped to the public yet. However, major retailers in the
business are not the public; we have ways to acquire products for internal
testing.

Bill, may be you can go to a Wal-Mart and ask the manager what are the
sources of their products. You probably are not going to be satisfied by the
result.

Sky2k
*******************

I think we should give them a chance and the NDS 1:1 a chance as well. Hey carloandrea, do you have a paypal account? Why don't you post it hereon the forum. I will send you $5 to get the product and do a review.
If others wouldn't mind chipping in and contributing $5, we may have a review of NDS 1:1 before the DS X-treme comes out.

Maybe a mod would like to put this in the news for everyone to see.
That way you can get a quicker donation response.

Id donate too, but I just dont have the money to give right now.

Good luck with the donations and the review.

As for the messegs from the shop, I think they are very iffy. They are treating you like a sheep of a consumer instead of some respect.
They are definitly hiding something, theres no doubt.
So be carefull with these guys.

I bet the 1:1 is just NinjaPass with a new sticker and some modifications.
I wouldnt be surprised.

Well, good luck with it all. I'll donate if I can.
This should definitly go on the news for a quick donation I think.

Their Wal*Mart analogy is totally bogus. First of all, the managers at the Wal*Mart probably don't know anything except how their individual store operates. You are hopefully speaking to someone who is at the equivalent of the corporate level. Those corporate individuals do know the manufacturers of various products. The other issue with the analogy is that Wal*Mart carries one of two products: brand name companies (who's information is readily available to the public, it has to be for the company to be legal) or their own "generic" company (Sam's Club or it's subsidiaries). The plain fact is that all of these product sources are public knowledge. I challenge the Sky2k people to find one product in a Wal*Mart that does not have at the very least the name of the manufacturer on a sticker or something that can not be traced to a parent company if nothing else. 25 cent gumballs do not count. There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking who the manufacturer of a product is, and we should get a straight answer. I will not be buying anything from this company, nor will I buy this product. All we really know about this thing is that it's a DS Flashcart and has a Passme in it. That's it. No more details really at all.

Well I may be no Flashcart Expert, but I think its an ok product. The reason why it may be cheaper then the ds-x is because its 512Mbits not MBytes

NDS 1:1 = 512Mb

DS-X = 4Gb

It makes sense why its cheaper because it can only store like what... 2 games? at most.

So it probably works, just not the best memory storage, I doub't homebrews any good on it.

this whole product seem bogus,
really why does everyone care, obviously this cart is either another dodgy ripoff or the company is just trying to make business.

The fact that stinkingbob has link the people in charge of Sky2k to this thread means that ever new member with like 1-2 posts to their name could be someone from Sky2k trying to talk up the product.

and for that DS-X remark, from what i have seen they arnt stocking this device which makes sense as to why they would say that 'their' product is better, as in compatibilty. The fact that these new companys are 'using' sites like GBAtemp to get their product out there means im finding it hard to trust all the info i hear on this site about new device specs (have we seen a device that doesnt need patching but has claim this proir to their release...YES).

and another thing, we had stinkingbob have this rant about how shiffty the company seems eg;
QUOTE('stinkingbob') said:
Umm, wait a minute. The DS-Xtreme has not even shipped out yet!!! How could they possibly know if their product is better?? What did they base their tests on?
Again, they are reluctant to disclose who the manufacture of the NDS 1:1.
My final opinion is to not buy the NDS 1:1 and not to do business with sky2k.com. Something just doesn't seem right with them. If ther are any gamers who are risk takers ans actually want to spend $50+ on the flashcard, please write a review about it.
then he out of no where says
QUOTE('stinkingbob')I think we should give them a chance and the NDS 1:1 a chance as well. Hey carloandrea, do you have a paypal account? Why don't you post it hereon the forum. I will send you $5 to get the product and do a review.

WTF, when did your viewpoint on this company change...right after they offered you money to stop talking down their product because they know IT WILL affect their sales?...

this cart seems like a quickly thrown togther product with no-one to blame when it finally ships along with its countless faults.
After this rant, im expecting a check in the mail from sky2k anytime soon. Then maybe my opion will change!
and lastly why are they asking reviewers to buy from their site to review their product when this is often done directly through the makers of the actually product, unless they infact have a direct link to the company involved. What a complete load of shit that im not gunna buy...at all. Good luck to anyone that is prepared to purchase this product, and im not trying to be a fanboy im just stating the facts.
my closing comment, wait for a reputable company like M3, G6, Supercard or EZ-Flash to make a slot 1 device. But hey maybe im just being too much of a safe buyer, if you have money to burn, by all means take one for the team.

Rant over... *takes a breath*

Just like the UFP/NinjaPass, the poor people who bought the products never received anything for their money.

I was thinking about buying a ds-x. The ds-x appeared to be the "wonder drug" that would cure every thing. But, now that it is out there are little problems here and there that are coming up. Im really not concerned with the price, I am more concerned with functionality. What product if any is the most functional out of every thing?

I am in no way affiliated with sky2net.com and I have made more than 1 or 2 postings on this forum.
What I was trying to do was to obtain as much info on the NDS 1:1 card while waiting for the arrival of the DS-Xtreme. I emailed sky2net and surprisingly, they were very fast with their replies. Yes, at first I was skeptical about their new product. Their reluctance to divulge the name of the manufacturer and when they said they did an internal testing of the X-treme when it hadn't even come out yet, just didn't sit right with me. From a posting on gbatemp, I found the website of the Chinese manufacturer. All in Chinese except a few words. I checked out sky2net via google and it seems like they have a store in a mall in Canada. They seemed legit, just not too business-savy when it comes to giving out product info. I don't know. Maybe things are done differently in Canada. Some internet business' are like that.
Why did I change my mind? For a couple of reasons. One, I was getting fast replies from someone at sky2k. I did not have to wait days. They answered it in about 6-8 hours after I posted a question. Usually bogus companies won't do this. Now before someone starts flaming this, how many people have emailed a well known company for info and then had to wait days to get a response, if ever?
Second, the NDS 1:1 was only $45. Not too much money for what they claimed it could do. My thinking was to get the flashcart and then do a review of it (At this point, I am not sure if anyone from gbatemp ordered it already. If not, then maybe you can email carlosandrea and coordinate with him about who will purchase it and review it. I can donate $5 - $10 for the cause via paypal. Just gbatemp email me). If the flashcart did not perform as advertised, I would have sent it back and have the charge taken off my credit card.
Third, the NDS 1:1 had an official release date 1 week earlier than the ds-Xtreme. I was one of the thousands eagerly anticipating getting my hands on a non passme, slot 1 solution cart. Whether it be the Xtreme or 1:1, I just wanted it.
So yes, I figured since the 1:1's description was similiar to that of the Xtreme and the price was not that much, plus it came out 1 week earlier than the Xtreme, I wrote to give it a try from sky2k.
Nothing sinister about it. I am not in collusion with them.

concerned about what the one rom that the reviewer tested that doesnt work even though ds-x has said that it will be fixed in the carts sent to resellers?

Its not the fact that one game wont play. I guess its the fact that there are unreliable sources spreading misinformed information. Off the top of my head I can only recall a few problems, the 2mb save space where most new games are using the 4mb save space, the fact that some applications will not run, and other minor problems. I feel that froums can and will affect the decisions some people make on what unit to purchase. For instancel, I don't understand the limitations of certain hardware so I must rely on the input of others to form a decision on which product to buy.
