How can someone "compare" them anyway ?

Since I don't know how the Gateway NAND backup really is (does it backup to a file?) I'm not sure if we can compare both.

First I'll revert to my 4.3 and fix the date ('cause everytime I backup/restore my date/time zeroes) and do a new backup, fix date time again and backup with gateway NDS. Then compare both NANDs.

Isn't it possible this way?

Can't you just try to flash back gateway backup using hardware flasher to see if it's compatible?

Ok! I got your point and it makes sense!

Doing a hardware MOD backup will always match because you didn't power on your console again. So doing a multiple backup with wiring and SD card will always match, but since we'll have to power on to install the NDS to dump the nand, it'll change!

Anyone got any ideas here, iv got an original aqua 3ds, had a mate of mine solder the points for me, I can now successfully dump the nand as many times as i like md5 compares fine each time so Im confident I have a good copy. Iv now removed the sd card reader but still got the 4 wires connected, however 3ds is giving me a blue screen still when turning it on. My understanding was that if I remove the card reader it should boot normally?

Thanks does that imply a short with the soldering then? also can the dumps iv taken so far be accepted as ok?

Yes supposedly a short but if dumps ok and wires have not been disturbed when disconnecting SD Reader i'm not sure. But best bet is to clean with flux and desolder wires from board and remove excess solder. It should them boot

cheers both, tbh now I have a good dump (well I assume good) im tempted to fully remove the mod and just readd it if it becomes useful for something other than piracy. Il get my mate to double check his soldering

What if I were to buy a small USB SD card reader, remove the socket and plug, attach my own connector that would lead to the outside of the 3DS, and attatch the card reader PCB to the 3DS motherboard? Would that work? Is there enough room to fit another PCB under the cover? I haven't opened my 3DS yet.

Hi folks!

I am liking what people are using as a 4-pin on the "motherboard cover" so that you don't have to have ugly cables or ports if/when you don't want to. My question is, where are you all getting those tiny male/female sockets? I tried radio shack ad they have only GIANT things. Would be neat to find a local sorce, but not crucial.

As for the cables, they look like oldschool ribbon cables. That's what I plan to use anyway. Nice and thing.
