Hacking NAND Dump sizes?

I dumped my 8.1.0-0J n3DS NAND and it was 2GB, then recently I dumped my 6.0.0-12U 2DS and it was 1GB. Is this normal that the n3DS has a bigger NAND dump? Or do I have a dud?

It is completely normal, New 3DS NANDS are twice as big.

thanks! though the emunand partition on the sd card of the new 3ds is just 1gb?
