I can buy a wii taiko drum set for not too much money. A picture shows a connection plug you need to put into the wiimote. The box only has the wii logo and not the wiiu one.
What I would like to know is if the namco wii taiko drum set can be used for the wiiu versions? Or is there a special wiiu version.

Thanks for any information

Will answer my own question.
Bought the Namco wii taiko drum and it also functions on the wiiu.
As well in wii taiko games as in the wiiu taiko games.
Unfortunately this drum is not as good as I hoped it would be... It hardly registers hits.. Ah well

OOF, did you get the cheap ones from amazon/ebay/aliexpress?? Those are garbage and should generally be avoided. If the Lv5 is out of the question then the official HORI ones are great after a slight mod.

It is an official namco one... From 2008.
Strange thing is that pressing the centre with my fingers it registers, but with sticks no such luck.
The borders are already difficult with my hands so with sticks it is even worse.
For wii/wiiu there are only brandless ones for sale

Looking at YouTube I think replacing the aging innerlining with cork and sticking small strips on side sensors will help a lot..... Need to think a lot on how to proceed as this is the first time
