Is it possible to repair? The power light comes on, but the screens are black. Is there a way to repair this or maybe someone on these forums that I could pay to fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't see it in there anywhere. The 3ds was running Homebrew and when it was downgraded to a lower version it bricked the console...at least thats what it seems like.

Seems like you probably downgraded to 2.1 and closed the lid, this is a hardbrick result

We still don't really know what happened. Did you put the device into sleep mode or did you not? What guide were you following? At what step did this happen? Answer those questions first.

Basically answered most himself.. - OP, did you make a nand backup? @vb_encryption_vb does hardmods in the US pm him if you want.

He did not answer them himself. He did not say which guide he was following, where it went wrong, whether or not he actually put the device in sleep mode, etc.

I do not have a NAND backup. It's been so long since the system was modded and I had a friend do the Homebrew install. It has been sitting here collecting dust. I just was curious if there was anyway it could be fixed so I can have a second working N3DS.

Ah, okay. Then just like proflayton123 said, the only way to do it is to do a hardmod (or pay someone else to do it).

Installing just userland HBL can't theoretically cause a brick, although downgrading to 2.1 and closing the system equals a hard brick. So that could of happened, other reasons to as installing the wrong files

Yah I would like to just have it fixed and back to factory settings. I guess I can't PM on here yet since i'm a new user, so I commented on one of @vb_encryption_vb profile posts. Hopefully he will get back with me on fixing this N3DS. Thanks for the help.

I don't think a hardbrick mean both screen being black, a hardbrick is usually when you're greeted with a blue screen saying bootrom error
Hmmm ok. Yah the screens are black and only the power light and charging indicator light work. The wifi light doesn't light up.
