Homebrew N3DS downgrade safety

Thanks to there being 2 copies of FIRM, even then it shouldn't brick. If it crashes during writing to firm0 the system will just boot with firm1 instead.
Though if it crashes during installation of important system modules, the console will brick, but it should be fixable through recovery mode since that uses its own set of modules.

I heard reports of failed downgrades where NATIVE_FIRM got screwed up and they couldn't boot.

I'm guessing it was something else.
How would they be able to tell if it's NATIVE_FIRM or something else that's the issue?

they said it crashed while installing/removing NATIVE_FIRM.
