my R4 spring broke and now when i put the SD card in it pops out, partially and it doesnt work. help! is there any way of fixing or do i have to buy a new one?

note: i bought it last july from www.superds.com (which doesnt load for me) and the R4 site doesnt state anything about warranty, so how am i supposed to know about warranty?

edit: I have emailed the R4 company, I am now waiting for a response, but still, any help is appreciated.

SOLVED.

same thing happened with mine, and many others.

luckily for me when i push it in, it stays in. just awkward to get out with no nails

just try taping it in, it should work, just needs to be kept in

taping as in using tape, or taping as in try to tap it in with a finger, cuz i finger tape wont work. i'll tyr though

edit: the tape is working, but i'd like to keep it as a temporary solution to my problem, if anybody knows how to actually fix the spring, would be appreciated.

Couple things to try:

Push the microSD in slowly just until you hear the click. That's how I have to do mine, if I push it too far, it would just pop back out.

You could also try squeezing the casing of the R4 around the SD slot as you insert the card. That works for me when it's being particularly finicky.

There are 3 YT vids kind of explaining what I'm talking about here:

If none of that works, you may need to do a little surgery and just remove the spring completely. That's a little more involved....

Here's the link to contact R4DS support:

Hope that helps ya!

those were great videos and really helped. but the funny thing is, i took my r4 apart, plugged my microsd into the circuitry, and you know what, it works again! i have no explaining for this, but i'm happy.

Glad you solved your problem.

The issue with the spring is why the R4 team developed a new version of the R4 without a spring.
