At that point I should be on section 3, running 2.1.0. But I'm not. I restored 11.0.33u.

What happens when you hold select at boot time? What happens when you remove your SD Card?

From everything I have read, you already have A9LH installed. If you did restore your 11.0 backup with GodMode9. Then. Skip Section IV - Restoring the System.

I am not sure why you are so hell bent on starting the guide completely from scratch.

I'm going to have to be home, to put all the files where they belong from section I. As it is right now is boots straight into Luma config 6.6 but I am certain it is 11.0.33u. I did it because I did not get a confirmation that armloader9 had installed (frozen screen, hit select, then 3ds stopped booting) and I wanted to start over. Now I know its not as simple as deleting files. Also I do not think my 3ds will boot without the sd card. Is there a way to revert everything so that I can use the guide again? I just don't think I should go into section 3 because I believe it needs to be on FW 2.1.0 when I move to section III. Can I proceed to it even if I am on 11.0.33? I no longer know how to revert what I did when I tried to start over (by deleting files, then trying to go back to 11.0.33u).

Can we confirm is A9HL is complete by when he puts all the files back on the SD card as lets say its empty per say and we try and boot with Select or start or whatever to get into Gmode.

It has A9LH. All the symptoms you describe are what it would//should be doing.

The only thing you have to do is follow https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax - and skip Section II - Installing arm9loaderhax - and skip Section IV - Restoring the System if you restored your 11.0 backup.

The frozen screen, is even mentioned in that very page.
Section II - Installing arm9loaderhax - at step 3.

1. Reinsert your SD card into your device
2. You should be already on 2.1.0 and powered on
3. Go to URL http://2xrsa.3ds.guide in the browser of your device
   • If you get the error “This service is not available in your region”, use the System Settings to set your device’s country to match the NAND region you installed with 2.1.0 CTRTransfer
   • If you get another error, follow this troubleshooting guide
   • If you get a glitched screen, follow this troubleshooting guide
   • If you are on a 2DS or New 3DS and Wireless Communication is off, you can re-enable the wireless by removing the battery and unplugging the charger for several seconds then booting back up
4. Press (Select) to Full Install

What does the follow this troubleshooting link give you?
It tells you:

SafeA9LHInstaller shows a glitched screen
This happens occasionally, but the reason is unknown. The buttons will still work, but the screen will be glitched looking

1. Follow instructions as normal
2. Press (Select) and arm9loaderhax will be installed
3. Wait a few seconds
4. Power off your device by pressing any button

You clearly hit select, and even though you didn't actually see it install A9LH on this glitched//frozen screen. It did!

Stop making your life difficult, and just finish the guide and do the sections that apply to you only.

To add to the above by TC - you said 11.x was restored - on 2.1 that can only be done by a9lh [or with cubic ninja?] or via hardmod

I have now followed the 18 steps in section 1, have all the files where they go. I hit the correct options in Luma config- booted back into 11.0.33u- and im at the point where the guide tells me to update. Section 4 step 9 wants me to update (though luma+a9lh). I am not seeing any new icons around, am i supposed to update like i would for a normal system update? Through the settings using the wifi connection (like an official update). I dont want to update now and miss something only to be locked out by the official nintendo update if luma doesnt install. I did not do step 8 "If your backup was of a version between 3.0.0 and 4.5.0, your device will not boot until you manually download the required firmware:" since i am currently on 11.0.33u. Let me know if its safe to update through the normal 3ds setting menu so that i dont lock myself out of CFW by accident.

Yes just update via settings - luma3ds protects the a9lh
