Hacking Multiple mios slots, is it possible?

let me know when you compile it and how/where to set the slot number, I can add a slot setting in USBloaderGX if you want to try it.

(since there's not really any danger of Nintendo coming out with more IOS at this point) I was planning on set the slots using IOS's 100+
100 - normal MIOS
101 - WiiPower cMIOS (for homebrew)
102 - Waninkoko cMIOS
103 - DML
104 - DM
105 - QuadForce
106 - reserved for QuadForce USB
107+ - just in case ;)

I know some of those are functionally a little redundant but now that you would hopefully be able to have multiple MIOS, I thought it would be nice to go all out.

:shy: I do need help making WAD's for these that would install into the correct slots if anyone wants to offer. (and the BootMii IOS into the MIOS slot for those who don't have BootMii@boot2) I never really got around to investigating how that's done and it's still on my to-do list.

I know the first 3 contain copyrighted code and I can't post them anyhow but many some sort of automated installer (or at least automated re-packer like ModMii) would be ideal ... more for my to-do list.

EDIT :
Also, just for completeness, you could also try installing cBC-NMM into another slot to have it available as well ... but that one you could just call directly from the loader.

Hey max. I see you've learned a lot about the Wii scene. I hope you are able to get this working correctly. I would love to be able to load USB Loader GX and select either a DM or QF game without having to worry which MIOS I have installed. Good luck!

@Maxternal
Are you still working on it?

Use some standard slot for cMIOS is really a good idea, but I don't understand how loader can know "automatically" which slot to use.
I think that must be do in Loader code ( checking ID of games for understand if is a DiosMiosGame or Quadforce... and "where" is launched for DML or DM).

Or I'm wrong?

users will still have to tell if they want to launch the ISO from USB or SD if they have both of them.

some loaders allow listing of the device one by one, but USBloaderGX for example list all devices at the same time and skip duplicates automatically based on detected MIOS type.
If DIOS MIOS Lite is installed in MIOS slot, it will list SD card in priority, and display non already present games USB dump with a warning "You need to copy on SD first".
If DIOS MIOS is installed in MIOS slot, it will list USB in priority.

There's a way to force SD or USB only, but I don't know if users are aware of that option.

The loader can't decide if you want to launch DM or DML if you have the iso in both devices.
A new (and maybe confusing) "default boot device" setting would be needed.

But it's the loader's problem. If Maxternal can make multiple MIOS Slot he doesn't have to care about the future user's decision.

I've thought about this before, and looked into it. However, you'd have to create a custom BC in addition to the MIOS (or create a different BC for each MIOS), so it seemed like more work that it was worth.

Edit: Ninja'd like 50 times, lol. Should have read the responses.

Is there any update on this?

You can set up the latest postloader so that it will install the Dios Mios or quadforce wad (if need be) right before loading your gamecube or triforce game. I wish other USB loaders would incorporate this, but at least something out there exists. I just make sure that any time I wanna play a GC or triforce game, I do so through PostLoader.

Yeah, I heard WiiFlow was considering incorporating something similar to what PostLoader has but I'm not for sure on that one.

My project has been slow just because I've been REALLY pressed for time in the last few months. I have a couple of ideas of how to get this accomplished to have a permanent, solution that you don't have to swap installations each time you change media ... but finding time to do some experimentation is the tricky part.

i would love a fork of wiiflow that would incorporate auto install. i think fix and fledge are too cautious to implement it, but im willing to risk it ;)

this would be the best solution but who knows if this will work. id assume crediar would have figured this out during development of dm and quadforce. programmers generally ( and i emphasize generally ) are lazy :P
