Yes, by FTP it's fine.
If the game doesn't boot, you may require to run the "verify rights" command in multiMAN (I don't remember the correct name of that menu, it's in the game's setting).

You can also transfer it by NTFS external drive (but it require a little step to add NTFS support to multiMAN, and it's used only in a one way transfer NTFS->Internal. you can't play from NTFS).

Or, you can use a splitter, few programs lets you split big files (the sparc is 9GB) in multiple 4GB chunk to store them on external FAT32 drives.
When you connect the drive in multiMAN, you can copy the file from external to internal, the split files are automatically un-split.

You can also play split games from external, but you need to use "Hermes" in BDemu setting. it will copy the big 9GB file on internal and use the rest of the file from external. but if you have enough space on internal you better copy all the game.

If you need more info on these program or a step by step, you can check my tutorial in the PS3 Tutorial section of the forum.

Can't explain it, but I had the same issue with dumping this game with multiman, which works great on everything.
Someone suggested trying Rogero Manager; I did; it worked for me. It then played fine from hd with both Rogero Manager and Multiman! Go figure.

Well then, no harm trying another Manager.
Just be sure you know where the dump will be copied, so you can move the folder if needed, in case you want to delete the manager without loosing the dump. (some managers are dumping in their subfolder instead of /games/ or /gamez/ folder on the root)
