Hacking multiMAN BASE or UPD?

When downloading the latest multiMAN I noticed there are two downloads, BASE and UPD. Going out on a limb here but I assume I need the BASE version? What then is UPD?

BASE is the actual program, UPD is the update for the program.

Install the BASE first, then the UPD whenever required.

the update is the changes since the last base version.
you don't need to install all the updates, only the one released since the last base installed.
1. update to latest released base.
2. install the updates released since then (if you want/need the latest features since last base)

And there's sometime no update available, only the base.
