Okay so the other day I decided to give New Super Mario Brothers a shot on multi-card multiplayer...
Single-card works great so I figured it would be even better!

I'm using a retail cart. and a downloaded backup. (From before I knew how to backup my own games) The two DS never find each other.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm guessing I'm the only one having the problem.

Thanks in advance!

Two-Cards. He said he has a flashcart and a retail cart that makes it 2 (more than one, multi) although it's pretty confusing, I thought he's saying this problem applies to more than one flashcart

are they the same region versions?
different region games often aren't local multiplayer compatible.

an other option is to try and enable downloadplay mode if your flashcard supports it.

Sorry guys for the lack of information.
I'm using an R4 with the European rom. There's no difference between Australian games and European ones right?

Hope that makes it a bit easier.

Hmm, that makes things confusing then...
I'll dump my own copy and see how that goes. I would've done it earlier but I wasn't sure if it would help.

EDIT: Hell yeah, it works now! (Backed up my copy) Thing is, is there any actual difference between Download Play and having the game? I haven't noticed any.

There is.... Download Play is just a demo of the game you're playing, it features only the main gameplay, and once your source card (the card you download the game from) shuts down, you'll lose the game you downloaded.

It's pretty confusing at first, the term is Download, but your DS won't store any data permanently at all and relies on Wi-Fi connectivity to survive

Sorry I wasn't clear enough... I meant there weren't any noticeable differences between the 'Single Card Play' and 'Multi-Card Play'. With Mario Kart for example: You can only race on 8 tracks instead of 32 tracks and only the people who own the game can choose their character and kart. (Whereas if you 'own' the game you get the fully featured multiplayer)

My R4 is a bit sketchy with Download Play as well, most games I throw at it work but Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games didn't.

Usually Multi-Card Play won't have any major differences with Single-Card Play. The usual diferences would be bonus dungeons to explore, more game options (like bonus weapons, character sprite, etc) and you can't move as freely as you do in Single-card Play (in adventure games you and your friend may have to be in the same screen), other than that it;s pretty similar to single-card play
