So, how about you share your knowledge with us and explain getting Mplayerwii to play with Ubuntu samba shares?

It tells me the network is established and tells me the Wii's IP but then just sits there locked up.... I've got samba shares set up fine between two Ubuntu PC's at home so I know the problem isn't on my Ubuntu setup..... or is it? Come on, nikasa, make a tutorial.

no i dont have the ime now just make sure there is no folder in the folder you selected

When you have time then for the guide.
Are you serious that there can't be any subfolders? But does the share have to be in the root of the drive or in the users home? Where can it be located?

As you can see in my video i have a shared folder in all hard drives, one of the shares, has many folders in it, mplayerwii can locate and open them easily, unsure about linux according to him, should be the same though.

You don't need your certain folder to be in root of your drive, just makes it easier, just put in the folders name, which you have shared, don't share the sub folders!

Mine says...

Waiting for network to initialise...
Network initialised. Wii IP address: [ip here]

...and just hangs. It's frozen, is this a common error? Have I done something wrong?

the step by step is basicly exactly the same as VISTA, and look at my video that's how simple it is, maybe its frozen because the connection over wifi is shit
There are many reasons that could block you, like i said, take your spyware, firewalls off, maybe your router has a firewall settings etc.
