hmm, try booting MPlayerCE again without USB, does it load?
it will do.

now try, power wii off, insert usb, power wii on, load HBC, Load mplayer, does it load?
if not try, power wii on, go to HBC, insert USB, load mplayer. does that work?

If not, guess your'e USB is causing a problem :S

I'm new to Mplayer-CE and am having great difficulty getting it to read DVDs or play files through my external HD. Here is my setup:

3.2U
Had previously installed cIOS249 rev10 (the updated one) for USB Loader
Installed mplayer 0.4
Installed USB CIOS2
Installed DVDx (the advanced method to IOS202)
Using Partitioned hard drive (the 1st partition is WBFS and is listed as "primary," the 2nd partition is FAT32 and is listed as "primary")

I'd like to be able to play movie files from the hard drive, but it doesn't seem to recognize it. When I select "Wii USB" as my source, it tries for a second and then returns to the select source screen. The DVD doesn't seem to work either.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Yeah subtitles has a bug for now, wait for v0.5, and lets hope they include supports for cIOS-USB2.0 so the HDD can work too...!!

It's not the subtitles, at least not for me, it crashed in a movie without subtitles.

Just letting you guys know that I started again and and created a 1st patition using FAT32 and a 2nd partition of WBFS on my external HD, both MplayerCE and USB Loader are working fine.

It was a bastard, and I spent all of last night (and a bit of today) putting all of my shit back on, but it's totally worth it!

For now I have to use the command line version of WBFS.EXE, but that's ok for me

I have the best of both worlds now and I'm a happy bastard!

madtamski that's super, a good few have gotten mplayer and usb loading working together on the same USB drive, good to know. i'm guessing both need to be primary, hope is working well for you, yeah that's the problem with having the WBFS aswell not recognised it will probably ask for a format hehe

So is the key to getting this to work having the FAT32 partition as the 1st partition and the WBFS as the 2nd partition? Right now, I have it the other way (although both are primary).

pornstarhhhmm can you give me more information?
e.g. when you install dvdx to ios202, what happens, hw do you load mplayer, do you plug usb before loading mplayer etc.

Also, this is strange, as your USB drive is working with usb 1.1, but not with 2.0 usb :S that's odd. I personally have a 20gb pvr player which isn't supported at all, and that hangs the player, but a device which works with 11 shouldn't hang if at 2.0 usb. reply.

if i install dvdx in ios202 it says ...loading mplayerce 0.4 than it loads and hangs immediately on the first screen. it does not make any difference if i pllug the device in first or when it is loaded. even with no usb device in it hangs..

hello everyone,
I've been trying to get japanese font to work in mplayer ce. (not for subtitles)
I tried putting japanese font file (ttf) into the font folder but it didnt work.
Does anyone know how to config the mplayer so it would show japanese named files correctly when i open them?

Or have anyone config their mplayer so it will display characters other than english?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Is there a way to make MPlayer_ce recognize directories with special caracters (like ã, á ó...)?
I've done configuring it to make it recogize those caracters. It works, but only on menu. When we navigate on the directories (I tested with SMB), it show a bunch of trash instead of them...
thanks....

I don't know if this is a 4.0U issue, but MPlayer_ce doesn't run for me at all. I have no USB, or anything else attached but everytime it starts it freezes on the first screen. Any suggestions to get me past this.
