cant find any posts about it but I was wondering what exactely is stopping the switch from reading mp4 files stored on it. Albums can play mp4 files that the switch has captured so why not my own mp4 files. I already tried copying the name of a legit mp4 file recorded by the switch and no success. Is there some special code in the mp4 file? Is it that it cant read any video over 30 seconds long? Just wondering if anyone knows the issue.

Edit: I created a small mp4 that has the same runtime as the legit switch mp4 files and now it shows up but has a big question mark and says data could not be read so im guessing there is some kind of proprietary codec.

Well, it's probably encoded using NVENC. (NVidia's codec)

That really bites the big one. I have to wonder why nintendo is like this...... I understand marching to the beat of your own drum but when your own drum is meant to make money shouldnt they cater to crowds who like multimedia content playable on the system.... seriously nintendo in 2018 your still using friend codes and forcing us to hook up a phone to the damn console to use voice chat. WTH is wrong with you... I honestly think nintendo has the finger so far away from the pulse that they might as well have there finger way up there ass...... god news is when they finally pull it out they will have a fudge pop. Lick it nintendo... LICK IT!!

I actually like friend codes so you can have literally any name you want, including special characters. But, I would prefer a hashtag approach. eg. Username#4524

Its a novel idea but i just dont like having to put in some long code every time i make a friend online. I can understand having any name you want I guess but hooking a cellphone to the switch to use voice chat..... come on. Theres no need for it. Im just but hurt by nintendo I guess. They impress me in certain areas but then disappoint me in 5 others. I understand they want it to be a game oriented machine but why not? Little inconveniences and nintendos stubbornness are the reason the hacking scene exists at all besides piracy. The people have to fix nintendos mistakes and short sightedness. Why no bluetooth headset support? I guess you could say it interferes with the joy cons but I can hook up 8 damn controllers to the thing and not one of them will interfere with the other but I cant send audio to a headset wirelessly. Its like they want to alienate anyone who would want to switch to a nintendo console. They should stop calling it the switch and start calling it they stay out.

I liked how it was on the wii u, you could use whatever name you want on your profile because it was the one you named your mii and then you had your NNID which removed the need to remember a 12 digit code when wanting friends to add you
