Hardware MP3 Player undetectable

I bought the Soyn NWZ-W252 Walkman. It comes with a small USB Dock. I connected the Walkman to the dock and the dock to the pc, but my PC doesnt react to the MP3 Player. Normally, something pops up for new hardware, but nothing happens. Do I need to do something special `? I know that the dock and walkman are ok, because the walkman gets charged, but no connection to the computer is brought up. Anyone can help me ?

Don't iPods have the same behavior?
Just open the music management software you will be using.
That might detect it.

I imagine it needs software to go with it, try flipping through the manual.

like the ipod, you should install itunes first to put mp3 files into it.
so that means, you should also install a software for the sony walkman first, before you can put songs in your walkman.
