I gave my DS lite to my now 5 and a half year old son about 18 months ago. Admittedly there were some cracks in the case hinges when I gave it to him. The current repair list since stands at:

2x complete shells - both replaced due to the right hand hinge breaking off completely.
1x touch screen - replaced as the original would no longer calibrate.
1x touch screen ribbon cable connector - the original broke when replacing the touch screen so I installed a modified version which is a lot stronger and easier to use.

I've opened up both my DS and DS Lite and neither to much success.

On my DS Phat:

I opened it up to replace the shell except when i put it all back together again the screens just blink and go off. Any ideas?

And my DS Lite

I opened it up to replace the touch screen (forgot screen protectors in the first weeks) and when i put it back together the top screen was dull and had small blinking lines? Would replace it but i really don't want to try my hand at soldiering.

I'm getting a DSi this weekend hopefully, so I might try to repair them at some point.

So:
0x repairs
1x broken DS Phat
1x half broken DS Lite

I think I might be out of the running

sounds like you accidently grounded the pc board with the metal frame of one of the displays when re-assembling the system and blew either the F1 and/or F2 fuse(s).

this sounds like the ribbon cable for the upper display got crushed and/or slightly torn.

no, I'm asking which one of them you are using
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
    ?
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    ohhhhh
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
on tiramisu you can access it by opening mii maker
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    okay
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
but homebrew is appearing in the home menu btw
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
i just didint know the homebrew launcher didint exist in aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
