Gaming Most hated GBA release group

...I'm wondering why people bump 3 month old threads without actually bothering to read them first.

I was annoyed sometimes with those unskippable intros, but then I remembered that I got the game for free, and that someone actually took the time to buy the game, and dump it, and release it....so actually I don't mind it at all....I'm very thankful for everything those guys (and gals if any) did.....
Mode7 dumped very large amount of games....they deserve the credit....Yes they could make that video skipable, or shorter, or left it out, but they decided to make it this way, and I don't mind watching it for few seconds if it'll save me money.....

Plus, those intros are removable with few programs....

The monkey bites...nuff said. My copy of Kirby Nightmare in dreamland came with the unskipable near 60 second intro. With a fuck load of unreadable text. (EDIT: Oh yeah and it wasn't free either.)

Than, you're doing it wrong!!
Pirating IS free..

Plus, as I said, those videos CAN be removed!!

But, with most of the ROMS, removing the intro can make it inoperable.

I was removing intro from at least 15-20 games with EZ Flash Manager while flashing ROMS on Ez Flash II Power Star, and never, no once had ANY problems, freezes, lock ups or breaks!!

So , I'm talking from personal experience..

This thread is almost upsetting to me. So many clueless kids.

Saying Mode 7 suck?!? Easily one of if not the #1 GBA group. I would go as far as to say that the groups that did have intro's were generally the better groups. I mean any lamer can can dump a cart, but not just any lamer can code an impressive intro.

Intro's have always been a point of contention between rom kids and the people doin scene releases. Why? Because they are two totally different types of people using the games differently.

Scene Guy - Will get the rom the second its released, fire up the game and watch the intro and enjoy it, props to the group who provided it for free. Will play the game for a bit if its good and if its real good may even buy it.

Upset Rom Kid - Will try and find a download link somewhere on the net, more advanced rom kids may use IRC. Will come across roms occasionally with intro' s and furiously tap A so they can get there FREE GAMEZ started. Could not care less about where its comin from as long as the OMG FREE GAMEZ are available.

If u are playing a game so frequently that the intro is annoying you that probably means the game is good enough to buy.

Anyway to reply to the actual thread title, the most hated GBA groups were MUGs and Tachyon. Who remembers that MUGs intro that was designed so that if you removed the intro it showed a screen calling you a lamer and froze? I actually thought it was pretty funny.

I dumped my own carts to avoid the mode7 trash
so far so good

Back then when I played GBA Roms, I hadn't got a Flashcard so I used VBA and I would just use the fast forward key to skip the intro. Most likely I would have watched it ones though.

true. have you seen that intro with the monkey that asks if the thing in your pants is a banana?
just... meh!
This was in the first game i tried... i thought it was the part of the real game and said "those Japanese game developers are sick!" X-D

The only reason I would EVER hate any scene group is if they relase one not working release after another. Be it GBA to NDS and PSP to Computer Games to TV shows and movies. I respect all the work they do, even if most of them hate P2P. They put so much on the line expecially those who go into a movie theater and cam recoird something. Although I hate cam's and always will. They deserve much respect by anyone who pirates. For anyone who pirates anything to say they HATE a certian release group is just BLAH. That is like hating some guy for coming up to you and actually handing you a game.

Personally, I love intros, and I grew up playing pirated C64 games, so I got to spend a lot of time with them. But as much as I enjoy them, when it comes to playing games, I'd rather have a pure dump. If I start a game and it has an interesting looking intro, I'll watch it, then go download a pure patch so that I won't have to watch it in future. I respect the scene and their right to hack in their own intros, and I appreciate the time, money and effort they put into releases. I also appreciate the opportunity to run clean ROMs, and if it takes a little more effort on my part to get them, then I have no problem with that.

Certainly, it's true that I could go out and buy the games if I want to play them as they were intended, but I'll be honest; I don't have the kind of money I'd need to buy some 50+ GBA games. The fact that it's free is what attracted me to piracy in the first place; it allows me to play games I wouldn't have the chance to play otherwise. I do endeavour to purchase the games I enjoy most, but there are too many great games for me to budget for after factoring in rent, utilities, etc. So instead, I play them as they were intended, without breaking the bank.

Liking intros and liking clean ROMs aren't mutually exclusive interests. It is entirely possible to enjoy both.

me neither

What a wonderful addition to this topic, your response has sparked my interest in what more you have to say about this subject.

/sarcasm

It would make sense if we knew what 'me neither' was in response to, and if you took more than 5 seconds to post a quick response that nobody would even care to look at.

No offense or anything, I just tell it like it is.

I have to say i am no big fan of intros but they where not annoying enough for me to remove them and for most of the mode 7 ones they where funny first time you saw them but it did get kinda old but as the phrase goes

Beggers can't be choosers, we get it for free so we deal thats just how it is.

I can't believe that some people still argue about this....

hank, I agree with you...pretty pointless bump....if the guy added anything smart to the subject, but not even that!!

I think that everyone who downloads games, should shut up and play.....you spend more time on complaining than that intro lasts....

MUGS, without question. Any group so low that they'd crack a major game (Boktai) and add my old gbatemp sig to the intro, along with releasing several betas of launch titles with me listed as supplier needs to die.

Now I'm interested and I will search out these releases to see a tainted name
