Has anyone got Moonshell to work with DSTT?

I tried like 4353262 times now, and it simply won't work.

It starts TTmenu fine, and i can start Moonshell also, but it comes with a short error message which i can't see cause it goes away after a sec. After Moonshell start's i can play MP3, and that's it. If i start a game, it just says files can't be used.

If someone got it working, then pls. zip it all up and put it somewhere. I can even fire up an ftp to put it on.

greets..

Why you would go to usrcheat in MoonShell?
MoonShell is only for music, photos and movies.

You can start games within Moonshell right? I think my old R4 worked with that. It even started Moonshell directly, but that i can't do with DSTT..

Got some problem here.

I am using DSTT. Downloaded moonshell and when I use the stylus to tap the _moonshell.nds (when it appears together with the listing of games), some error message saying that it cannot read some files appear but after a while it stabilize. It shows the folder where I store the MP3 files and I managed to play the MP3 files succesfully.

My question now is, how do I play video files ? In particular, I want to play some .wmv files. How do I go about doing it ?

Thanks

Grumle: I don't believe you can start games from within Moonshell on the DSTT. You should be able to reset back to TTMenu though. If you can't you'll need to replace your "reset.mse" file with the one from the moonshell package that's on the DSTT website. If I'm not mistaken, you can also run homebrew from Moonshell with the DSTT (just not commercial games).

Grumle and R_four_menu: The message you see flash on the screen when Moonshell starts up is normal. If there was an error during startup, that message would remain on the screen long enough for you to read it. Bad design, I know. But that's how it's always been.

R_four_menu: Videos must be in DPG format in order to play them in Moonshell. Convert other formats to DPG using BatchDPG (more difficult to use but produces smaller and higher quality videos) or SUPER (easier to use but doesn't produce as small or as high quality videos).

Thanks Bri, where can I:

1) get this BatchDPG and SUPER ?

2) any guide available on how to use this BatchDPG and SUPER ?

Thanks

Google is your friend. I'm guessing both come with documentation.

(I'd give you a better answer, but I've never used Moonshell for videos).

Yes, soft reset works from Moonshell for me with both 1.07 and 1.08. I'm using the version from the DSTT website, which seems to have an extra file in the "plugin" folder named "reset.mse.mshl". I'm guessing that the TTDS team added a new "reset.mse" and renamed the one that came with Moonshell to "reset.mse.mshl". So if yours isn't working, try grabbing the TTDS one and copy those two files to your "moonshl/plugin" folder.

After playing MP3 songs with moonshell, i wanted to play some games. But I cannot soft reset. Everytime I have to turn the DS off and turn it on again, it kinda of troublesome.

I noted your moonshell is ver 1.07 and 1.08 can soft reset. But my moonshell is ver 1.71 which is a later version. I press X+Y+A+B+L+R but it doesn't soft reset.

Somebody help me, please

Thanks

That was an old post, and I believe the 1.07 and 1.08 I was referring to was the DSTT firmware version, not the Moonshell version.

The normal X+Y+A+B+L+R only pertains to commercial ROMs (it does not work with homebrew).

Moonshell has its own soft reset mechanism, which is the "reset.mse" file described in my post. I believe you can do a soft reset from within Moonshell by selecting an option from Moonshell's menu (I don't remember offhand what the option is called).

You may also be able to copy TTMENU.DAT to a new file named TTMenu.nds and then run that from Moonshell to do the same thing. This method also works for DSOrganize which doesn't have a built-in soft reset mechanism.

Alright, apparently I am the only bloke on the internet with this problem. I am trying to fully enjoy Moonshell on the DSTT cart. After loading up moonshell, I open up my .dpg file from a folder in my root menu. The file opens and plays fine, but the only fast forward/rewind function comes from seeking with the control pad, and is tedious as hell. I know that there is supposed to be a seeking bar, or something like that, on the touch screen, but there isn't one for me.
Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? Google has failed me on this one guys.

Just switch to Moonshell 2. It has the on-screen seekbar, it plays videos better, it has (pretty much) every feature of Moonshell 1.71 and then some, it looks better, it works more consistently, it has support for launching files with particular extensions with particular programs directly and (using a plugin) you can even boot roms with it.
Trust me, there are no reasons not to at least try Moonshell 2

Might I be able to find the software and whatnot in the DL section of gbatemp...or is asking about this against rules. If so, just let me know and I'll edit this post asap. It'd be great to be able to mess around with moonshell on DSTT as I don't play games much.

Yeah, Moonshell 2's in the download section. Right here.

Also, for those who are wondering, there is a method of booting games from Moonshell 2, you just need to use YSMenu and the YSLoader for Moonshell 2. Doing this is pretty sweet, because then you can use Moonshell 2 as your default firmware and not have to exit it to play games.

does it work on EDGE?

Make sure your video is in the DPG format (Moonshell comes with a nice little tool that converts most video types to DPG)

Whenever I start it I see an error for a second but it goes away and everything works fine.

when i downloaded moonshell 2, i was expecting to be able to see higher quality videos. however, when i try to load it, it says, "Loading "/moonshl2/reload/dat". Please start moonshl2_directboot.nds when stopped on this screen." then, when i load directboot, it says "NDS file version of starting moonshell2" and "Files of installed moonshl2 folder" are different - and then i cant use it. any tips?
