When i watch movies i put on my DS. every once in a while the audio sounds like it only goes through one speaker for like half a second and then goes back to normal.

A couple of factors:

What did you use to convert the movie?
Which version of Moonshell are you using?
How big is the movie?
Which type, DPG1, DPG2, DPG3, or DPG4?
Are your speakers in good condition?
How old is your DS?
Is it the DSi, Lite, or Phat?

Maybe try using headphones.

i have moonshell 1.71, a ds lite that is new. this audio problem only happens when i try watching movies, i listen to music and everything else just fine. the problem happens with and without headphones in. i use batch dpg 1.54. idk how to tell if its a dpg 1 2 3 or 4

Kinda offtopic but please be aware of the sound. Watching movies at 400% volume is DANGEROUS to your speakers.
After doing that my right speaker just died. Now it always crackles on games, movies, music - everything.

Maybe, just be careful.

Just to give you an idea of how much my speakers handled, I downloaded a video, put it on max volume on my DS.

You are not gonna believe this. Try watching, it's in the spoiler. Yes it did handle this.

Yes, insane, right?
