MonsterHunterX > MonsterHunterGen Save Transfer

Guide originally created by a user on 4chan

MHX > MHGen Save Transfer

What you'll need:

-3DS with CFW or Homebrew
-Monster Hunter Generations
-Monster Hunter X
-JKSM for CFW, also JKSM is available for Homebrew (If you don't have CFW)
-This handy tool courtesy of a based anon from /mhg/

Step 1: Use JKSM to extract the ExtData of MHX and copy that from your SD card to your PC (also extract the ExtData for MHGen, this'll make a later step easier)
Step 2: Extract the Release.zip file into a folder
Step 3: Copy the system file from ExtData to that folder
Step 4: Drag and drop the system file onto cgen.exe
Step 5: Grab the two output files from the Out folder and put them into the JKSM ExtData folder on your SD card that you created for MHGen in step 1
Step 6: Open JKSM and import the extdata to MHGen

Enjoy!

I was waiting for this because I'm on the legal path again, so no more emunand nor a9hl but I kept my MHX save. Thanks for this tutorial. :D

i see, mine was able to work at first but not able to save, maybe you didnt download any DLC since Day 1. What i know is that DLC causing the crashing issue hence this TOOL is needed.

The exe gives me this error and then crashes : System.IO.Filenotfoundexception:could not find file 'template.bin'

The cgen, program.cs and template.bin are in the same folder...
I need help figuring this out or if someone can convert it for me.

This is off topic but, is it possible to inject a custom image to the guild card? Like in animal crossing new leaf town pass card?

ok can someone explain this to me a bit clearer it just a bit confusing a bit to me just liitle bit ( would this also work for the retail version too?)

You need to drag SYSTEM file (Extdata extracted via SDF of MHX) to the CGEN.exe. Do not double click cgen.exe

Actually i did that, and it still gave me the error. But i fixed it by reading very carefully and i did "put the system file first with the cgen.exe in the same folder, and THEN dragged to the exe."

My problem was that i was dragging the system file while it was in a different folder thats not the cgen folder.

Can the save extraction be done with SaveDataFiler? (I don't know what's that JKSM and I'd rather use something that's already installed/working)

Does this work for the EU version of the game? I can't seem to get it to work despite getting it to work on a US copy.

Hello, I have a problem.
I started playing Monster Hunter Cross when it came out in Japan. I downloaded the DLC missions and I worked perfectly but when I passed my save to Monster Hunter Generations I had a bug that when I download the American DLC the game freezes and then it brokens my save and I need to inject it again so I can play again. My question is, is there any way to erase the DLC missions of MHX or something?
PS: And the japanese palyco that I've downloaded says "DUMMY" :/
Thank you & sorry for my bad english.

Hi.
Did I understood correctly, that MHGen's save data doesn't store in *.sav file but located in extdata?

Unfortunately my SD card gone raw and after restoration some data was corrupted, including MHG save. All gone. I found some unknown *.sav file in restored data and wondering could in be my mhg save? But i can't find where to insert it to check whether it mhg save or not. Any tips?

When I transferred my save from X to Generations I had to extract and import the ExtData so I believe so.
