sorry for not trying out before on my 3DS console. apparently it works on Citra but it crashes on 3DS. its now working perfectly on 3DS with this v7 patch thanks for the bug report
yes i have, and got the game working but dont know what folder DLC English Translation files goes into

The English patch is just like a regular update. You move the CIA into your cias folder and install it via FBI. THis patch actually supersedes the standard patch, and just includes all of the English text.
This even works with physical copies of 4G. (Source, I have the patch installed as an update on my 3DS, and I play on cartridge.)
So you have to download the DLC quests as normal in game.
Then, you use a program like Checkpoint to extract the Extra Data, which will give you a folder similar to the DLC English Translation Folder. Replace the files in that folder with the DLC English Translation Folder files, and then upload the Extra Data from that folder into Checkpoint.
One thing I will point out though, if you are playing with Japanese players, don't post your English DLC quests. It's the actual Quests themselves that have the text edited, so they'll show in English for them too, and they'll just assume you are a hacker and kick you. If they post Event Quests, you'll still see them in Japanese as well, even if you have added the translations.
Depending on how you intend to play, if you want to play Event Quests with randoms, you may be better off leaving them untranslated.

DLC English Translation files
I was wondering if this could work on regular MH4U version, so I tried it. Apparently, some quest work while mostly don't work, something like "you can't accept this quest data" or some sort pop-up on screen. I really want those anime quest collab but damn.. doing this actually removed all of your hunter's card collection, item sets, and equipment sets.
