You mean the Barroth AND Great Jaggi quest? HOW THE FUCK?

I still can't do it.
Great Jaggi no problem down in mere minutes, Barroth I spent the entire 50 minutes trying to kill and it still wouldn't go down, the Great Jaggi got killed by the Barroth while I was hacking the hell out of Barroth and the sod STILL didn't die.

What weapon did you use? and What Tactic?

I used a Rhinohasta Lance. Changed weapons to Lance and I've been playing fairly well with it. Just train with it for a bit and you'll see it's not very hard to handle, you're just a lot slower while walking with it on your hands.
Plus, I had a huge luck on the food, got the skill Felyne Defender (Hi) and Felyne Moxie, and health and attack.

I just searched for the Great Jaggi, killed it in about 5-10min, and then went for the Barroth, it took 30min or so, so I made it in time. The only problem was the Que... Qu.... the bird with the red thing on his neck, that showed up sometimes to ruin the day. >.<

Now, let's see if I can finally kick that Gigginox butt with my newly upgrade Lance, Rugged Lance.
I'll post my equipment in a bit, trying (once again) to get online. It's a bit of some sets, not a full set. XD

I tried the arena for the first time.
I saw "great jaggi" I said "ok let's do it".... damn I died too quickly XD

I guess I'm not even ready for great jaggi on the story mode. too bad there's no XP and levels ! I need to upgrade arms and armors only... that's quite long to make money and find loots.

I'll try online mode now, maybe I'll find better items and learn few things from other players.

Failed once again... oh well. Anyway, here's my equipment and Cha-Cha.

Equip:
- Ludroth Helm
- Gobul Mail
- Ludroth Vambraces
- Barroth Faulds
- Ludroth Greaves

Charm: Pawn Talisman (because of auto-guard, it really saves you when you're not quick enough to hit guard yourself)

Decorations: 2 attack +1 ; 1 health +1

Cha-Cha: Lv 15
- Lamp Mask

- Fire Attack
- Attack Boost

and that's how I've been playing! ^^

EDIT: OH YEAH!!! Lagiacrus is DOWN!

I wish you could change weapons while questing, it'd make things SO much easier, having said that it might also be worth looking at Bowguns

So far I tried that quest with a Bone Axe+ (failed on Barroth), Plume Flint (failed on barroth), Rough Edge (again failed on Barroth), Ananta Boneblade (again fucking Barroth)

and it's not as if I'm even bad at the game first time agains Rathian in Jaggi armour (makes you weak to fire) we caught it and then killed it.

Well online (that was my first Rathian), me and 1 other person caught, and the went a killed the Rathian everything online has more health than it does offline so it kinda takes longer and quite harder considering you use more potions and stuffs (EVIL!!!)

I havent played it in a while some reason i cant kill the bird how do i exactly kill it (yes i am still using SnS)

To kill Qurupeco (the bird) you need a weapon with atleast green sharpness.
I suggest making a Bone Bludgeon+ that will make the fight very easy and it's easy to make early on.

and about my signature, it's a few images loaded up to a webpage which has some PHP(I think) script making the image change upon refresh (go look at Rydian's Signature his does the same

)

I've been farming Ludroth for hours now. According to the MH wiki R. Ludroth has 26% of dropping spongy hides per carve. The quest reward has a 30% chance of giving you a spongy hide. If you break his Mane, there are two 37% chances of getting a spongy hide and after killing him about 7 times now, I still have not a SINGLE spongy hide... Last time I farmed the armor online and it only took about 3 runs.

muhahahaaaa finnaly did the hinter killer quest and it didn't even take half an hour this time

I changed my weapon over to the Bone Bludgeon+ and WHAM smashed his face off then crushed his skill for victory

and rauthelegendary I seem to get Spongy hide every run and in the rewards usually 1 or 2 of them

Meh, I don't like hammers, they have poor range so I end up always hitting the ground instead of the Monster! >.<

Btw, DarkWay, you're from UK but you're using a US copy, right? That means I will not be able to play with you... when I finally go online. :S

yeah I'm on the US version I started on the US version and I didn't want to have to restart the game on the PAL version (I don't know if I can use my US save file on the PAL version

if I could I'd probably be on the PAL version)

I was playing with a friend on the US version until he got banned (probably because his playtime was higher than possible), so after he got banned we decided to switch over to PAL. There doesn't seem to be any difference online, which is strange considering the ping differences. I wasn't too happy about switching either, but playing with a friend is just a lot more fun.

I'll go hunt Ludroth a couple more times

, if he doesn't drop the spongy hides soon I'll just continue with Barroth.

And AFAIK there isn't any way to convert a safe file from NTSC to PAL. Though there seem to be converters for the Japanese version of MH3...

I still have never played online (only tested the online town yesterday).

I was thinking for the guys who started out with the JAP version and now on the NA installment, would you guys like to get together and form a group? We could start a thread and just keep tabs on play nights etc.

I am not a rookie as I was playing the JAP version for 6 months or how ever long it was out for. I just need to get some good carves or drops that are tough for me now at the 3 Star Quest (need to kill the Quarapecco to finish 3Star quests and on to the 4 Star Quests).

I have some decent skills, switched to my trusty Switch Axe finally and I haven't tried using the bow gun to make my life easier. Some friends online and coaching would help.

We could use TeamSpeak via a laptop or computer to talk as I dont have WiiSpeak right now.
