If it matters, I have DARKCORP installed.

Can't do official update because my dorm has shitty wireless internet.

I don't need the connection to drop while it is updating.

If you correctly installed DARKCORP, you should be able to install system menu 4.2 with no problems.
Alternatively, you can run the DARKCORP uninstaller

Weird.

I'll try uninstalling it then. If that doesn't work I'll have to get a friend to take my Wii for today to update it.

D: i have another problem, same as the guy few post above me.

im trying to install DARKCORP but whenever i agree to install it, all the installations get an erro some get error ret = -1029 and some get ret -2013

Did you install a cIOS? (In other words, did you follow this/a guide?) It won't work without it.

yeah, i followed this guide exactly. i got it to work though. i just used the DARKCORPs 1.0 version and it worked some how..

Still unable to install: IOS70-64-v6687.wad even after uninstalling DARKCORP.

I cannot install via Nintendo's Official Update either at the moment because I'm in an area with bad wireless connectivity.

Any other way to update or am I just going to have to wait until I get to a stable wireless area?

What would be the consequences of skipping the IOS70-64-v6687.wad and going straight to the System Menu-NUS-v481.wad?

Yep.I'd get my second wii yesterday.I'll change Drive to D2B but now I need SD Loader. (I didn't have USB HardDrive)

Hi i've successfully soft modded my wii with this excellent guide so first of all thanks alot for the guide, from reading so many (many,many....) pages of info on the subject some peoples mistakes could be avoided if they just took their time (NO distractions!!) and followed this guide WORD for WORD. I previously soft modded my wii years ago and thought i would update it, and every thing went fine.
I would like some advice though if possible. I've been reading up on back up loaders types etc and was wondering what would anyone who has followed this guide recommend to run backups from their usb hdd. I'm torn between CFG and usb loader gx, also i read a recent post from someone who says using a wbfs fromatted drive is old news and that we should use fat 32, any comments/help from anyone please? Thanks!

fat32 is the only format that can store wii games and homebrew

wbfs format can only store wii games (so u need a second fat32 partiton, or an sd card, or a SM channel to launch the usb loader)

ntfs can only PLAY wii games (usb loaders cannot rip games to an ntfs drive). It also does not support homebrew.

i like configurable usb loader, but the other ones xzxero mentioned are good too, try them out and see which u like best

Interesting

I think i'll follow all of your helpful advice, i'll try each one and see which works for me. Should i go for a forwarder or channel? My kids might mess up the wii if it's too long a process to start the games so i'm hoping on having a channel on the wii menu instead of loading through the homebrew channel(if that makes sense!). Thanks alot guys for your help! much appreciated

202-v5-57
222-v5-38 (no other choice)
223-v5-37 (for guitar hero like games)
224-v5-57 (for faster USB Loading)
249-v19-57 (for faster USB Loading)
250-v19-37 (for guitar hero like games)

note, that u need to update your wad manager to use cIOSs with non IOS38 base (download and use YAWMM)

also note that until Triiforce is updated, it doesn't work with cIOS249-v19, instead use cIOS249-v17 (or v17b) if u use triiforce regularly

Well, I installed the CIOSES to the letter like u said using YAWMM and me games are on a 1TB HDD splitted into 900GB for Wii wbfs, and 100GB for something else...and when I select a game...it just freezes.

Any idea why that is?

I tried usb loader rxxx (don´t remember what version that was), then r929, and r927...all the same. Maybe there is something I am missing?

BTW...I installed using IOS36...maybe that has something to do with it...that´s because in the guide from 12/09...it said to use IOS36.

either the cios installs failed and u didn't notice the fail message, or u have a bad rip of the game, or your hard drive is dying (like mine

I'm backing up my data as we speak)

just noticed u said u installed the cios's using yawmm... did u get these from a reliable source (or make them yourself?). You may want to try using the actual cios installers if the wads u have are not working properly

edit: u can try configurable usb loader if u want, but usb loader gx should also work

can anyone help me updating to 4.2E from 3.0E. I did followed the step. installed homebrew, dvdx and bootmii. when get to Yet Another WAD Manager Mod. "Update to 4.2
Run Yet Another WAD Manager Mod from The Homebrew Channel.
Scroll down the list to find & install:
*Really important stuff here! Do not skip or alter steps in any way!*
IOS70-64-v6687.wad
& System Menu-NUS-v481.wad [NTSC-J = v480; PAL = v482]
Then proceed to install the remaining 22 different IOS files & Shopping Channel-NUS-v18.wad by pressing + on each one then A to install them. It should say 23 files will be installed.
*End.*" im kinda stuck there.. I can't see IOS70 and System Menu. i can only see IOS4,9,11,12,13,15,17,20,21,30,31,33,34,35,37 and 254 from scrolling list left to right. and i dont know what to do next.
EDIT: I dont see IOS36 to use where the guide said load IOS36 "7. Boot Wad manager (or your wad auto installer). If it asks for the IOS to use, choose IOS36. Now install all IOS/channel wads in the wad folder (this is why we moved some of them in step 6).
If you are Using YAWMM, you can hold + for 2 seconds to select all wads in the folder.
After you installed all those IOS and channel wads, press Home to return to the HBC.
". when i boot YAWMM. it already set IOS35. am i do anything wrong?
thanks
