can someone tell me how to boot the HBC from bootmii please, it hangs when i try launching it but from the channel it works fine.
it worked before i used this guide but i also had a very old version of the HBC before.

i am worried as i make my own channels and now if i banner brick i will not be able to launch the HBC.
please help me.

PAL Wii
sys menu 4.2
bootmii boot 2 and ios

checked any title deleter and my HBC is definately now JODI, i'm sure it used to be called HAXX

xzxero please help me out ...

You could still have an old version of bootmii that trys to boot the HAXX channel.

Update bootmii with the latest hackmii installer.

Hi to everyone,
Having read and re-read all of the guide and the posts I have sucessfully modded my wii. THANKYOU!!
But just some advice for others- if you have a virgin (unmodded Wii below 4.2 then update it via the official nintendo updates to 4.2 then use the modify.zip files . It works.

any help again please
i have been given a wii with a semi brick
i think they put a chip in it and put a out of region disc in or somthing like that
im not sure as its been passed from person to person
i can get into wii options data management and channels but cant get into the wii settings
it just says you tryed to access the address marc;eu/eu/eng/index01 blah blah blah

anyway i can install the homebrew channel and bootmii
but when i do the update part
i run wadmanager 1.5 when it opens i cant see ios36
all i can see is 35 254 4 9 11 12 13 15 17 20 21 30 31 33

That's very encouraging news, since my wii was updated previously to 4.2 via Nintendo before I even thought of modding.

Hi. Having read and then re-read this guide, I'm still no further than just a toe i the water. First I was worried because my Wii was updated to 4.2e through Nintendo but I'm convinced now this isn't a problem. Thing is, I have already got HBC installed after following the giude on Wiibrew so I don't know how far I've got already. Could I just start following the modify 4.2 section fron the beginning installing HBC and Bootmii again?

Starting from the very begining would be fine. If anything, new modifications install over old ones.

xzxero,

Everything went smoothly... my wii wouldn't allow a boot2 bootmii so I'm a bit concerned about that as it went to the IOS only. What is the point in backing up the IOS if there is no way to re-install it if something fails? Is it just so that if someone figures out how to do it in the future atleast the files will be available or what?

Why is it recommended to install system menu hacks if Bootmii is only installed as IOS? I just got to that part and would really like to know the advantages of that or if there is any hack I should absolutely install?? I want to do as little as possible since I have no escape route if something bricks.

Also what are things I should avoid doing to keep from bricking? My main concern is keeping it up to date so it can play all the latest games via backup copies. Now, tell me if I'm wrong... most original games come with the updates that are needed and will install automatically... and I shouldn't have to worry? Yes? No?

From what i've learnt I think it best if you install priiloader if you installed bootmii to ios so you can have a chance of recovery if something goes wrong

Thanks!

Another question for anyone...

I just launched bootmii from HBC and got the black screen and blinking blue light on my wii... these files are backed up on my computer (bootmii folder, nand.bin and keys.bin) should bootmii folder be put back? I assumed after making the NAND backup those files had to be removed or renamed. Confused.....

So, should I have NeoGamma and Softchip in the bootmii folder or just in seperate folders in the apps directory?

Man, I just completely don't understand the structure of things yet.

I just installed Priiloader.

After it was done, I exited.
Got a black screen with message:

"Couldnt find hacks.ini on SD or Nand"

I'm confused how did you get Nand backup if you only installed bootmii to ios. Anyway you can delete these from the SD card and neogamma etc go into the apps folder.

Keep the NAND backup files (nand.bin and keys.bin) in a safe place. I removed mine from the SD card and have it on my computer. Keep the bootmii folder on your SD card so you can launch it still. NeoGamma and Softchip should be in separate folders in the apps directory. All Homebrew apps are kept that way.

If you follow xzxero's instructions you backup the nand, keys and bootmii right after you install the Homebrew Channel and Bootmii, then he says to backup them to PC, and rename or delete them from SD card which is what I did for all 3 files including the bootmii folder, which I still don't understand cause I thought bootmii is supposed to be on there now??

What's so confusing? Everyone with Bootmii IOS can make a NAND backup.

Thanks so much, xzxero should really modify the text, maybe I just have a way of misinterpreting everything but it doesn't say to keep bootmii on the SD card, instead it sounds like he's saying remove/rename nand, keys and bootmii.

QUOTE(EeZeEpEe @ Dec 1 2009, 01:51 AM) The hacks.ini should be on the root of your SD card.
I'm sure it probably is, but just thought it was odd that error came up.

ok thanks my mistake, I thought you could only make a nand backup if you installed bootmii as boot 2

BTW there is no need to keep bootmii on the sd card as it will just keep showing everytime you switch on the wii and you only need it again if you have a problem.
