Started with 4.1E. Updated BootMii, HBC, and DVDX before upgrading.

I updated using the safe 4.2 updater by zektor, fixed IOS 36 + 70, then used the preloader 0.30 installer by phpgeek.

@xzxero
Maybe you might want to update your packages + tutorial one last time hehe.
why should i update the files?
whats wrong with em?
QUOTE(BigSteel @ Oct 13 2009, 05:42 PM)
I have a virgin 4.2U that I used the newmod newmod method on. I followed the instructions to a tee and when I reboot after all is complete, I get an error saying that the system files are corrupt. Fortunately, I can still boot into Bootmii and restore using my NAND backup. I did that once and then went thru the process again, and got the same error. So, I restored one more time and thought that perhaps I should update via Nintendo, but it says I can't as I am already on 4.2. Any idea what the problem might be?
is preloader set to use IOS70?

hmmm...don't think so. How do I do that? Also it is preloader .29 that I am using (the one that comes in the bundle). Should I be using .30?
theres a newer one out already.

i updated the packs already, but you only get a response every 4 days.
so itd be easier to just dl preloader .30

as for changing the IOS, go into preloader's settings and change the IOS to use 70 and save the settings

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. Any thougts on the .29 vs .30?

upgrading to the new preloader .30 is very easy once you have everything set up. it has alot of cool features i'm trying to get it running on my Wii as i type.

yeah, if you install preloader before installing ios 70 your Wii will not boot to the system menu. it freaked me out when this happened to me. i had to boot to preloader then go to HBC run wad manager install ios 70 then reinstall preloader. save yourself the hassle and do it right the first time.

5] Run Wad Manager
When it opens choose use IOS249. (it is probably already set to that)
Press A to leave NAND emulator disabled
Press A to open from SD slot.
Install IOS70-64-v6687 [Patched][FreeTheBug].wad and exit.

alrdy did this step hmm.. just can't get past the loading screen in .29 preloader

I ran the mod on 3.4E and i also had the upside down HBC. i just reran the bannerbomb and reinstalled HBC onto 61. Should add something mentioning that into your guide as I can see people getting freaked out if they are running this from older menus where HBC runs off IOS36
