Been thinking could be something to do with stage 3

Custom IOS should be installed as 249

OK... so I went back to part 3 and did the wad install on the custom IOS installer 2.0

followed the guide and got the following:
>> content #01: 06 patches applied
>> content #17: 22 patches applied
>> Title extracted successfully!

[+] Adding contents, please wait

>> content #018 added successfully
>> content #019 added successfully
>> content #020 added successfully

[+] Installing custom IOS, please wait...
>> Install ERROR! (ret = -2011)

[+] finishing installation, please wait... OK!

NOW I'm Stuck

That means you did something wrong on all of step 1. That means there no Trucha Bug in your wii.

ok so i was happily going threw the guide but when i booted the Bootmii I didnt install the DVDX option. Didn't want to complicate things you know.

but then comes step 4a and ISO 249 isnt there. 354 is though.

I did some research on ISO 249 and from what I can put together this is directly related to DVDX

so my question is. Do I just skip steps 4a, 4b and 4c? If not then why can't I choose ISO 249?

I'm really excited to document this process to make a video. hopefully helping others in the future!

EDIT: I should also mention that when attempting to to re-run Bootmii threw HB (since I couldnt load it to slot-2) it goes black and the wii light just keeps flashing.

It's now been 1 hour of Googeling trying to figure this out...hhrmm..

Me too got to part 4 and cannot find IOS for install not coming up, any ideas?? followed your excellent guide for 4.1 last month and succeeded and now am stuck on the 4.2 at this point.

Thanks for all this fantastic work

EDIT: nvm, it seems u already figured out u screwed up step 1,2 or 3. Retry and post results.

Also, make sure you're choosing to use IOS 36 in step 3.

I think I screwed up in steps 1-3

I upgraded to 4.2E with Nintendo then downgraded the ISO15

I think this is where I messed up I wasn't reading the error messages properly
(you have to scroll a few lines to see them properly)

anyway I tried it without the downgrade

went 1b>>2>>3onwards HEY PRESTO all working fine and dandy

Just sticking wiiflow on now and cloning my wbfs drive and now I have 2 wii's with over 100 games on each
successfully soft modded.

did you install the XDVD? can you still boot your run your Bootmii (i mean, if you dont have it running on Boot-2 that is..)

Ive been sitting here all night hitting refresh waiting for a response. I'm going to bed now dreaming of a solution.
DVDX has nothing to do with IOS249.

your cIOS did not install correctly which means you did step 1a-1c wrong

do them correctly then step 2 should install correctly and you should be able to choose IOS249

I upgraded my Wii to 4.2 tonight through Nintendo, then did the 4.2 softmod guide, and now my boot2 doesn't work for bootmii. Is there any way I can get it back?

Also modded a friend's Wii last night using the same method, and got similar results (although his Wii was not previously modded). Both Wiis say that installing to boot2 is possible.

Runn the Hackmii installer the same way you did when you first put HBC on your Wii and you will be good.

This sounds weird to me, i thought updating to 4.2 via nintendo stopped u from ever installing bootmii as boot2, can some1 confirm or deny this?

EDIT: if bootmii was installed as boot2, then you update to 4.2 via ninty, you should still be able to reinstall bootmii as boot2, correct?

Okay, that worked. I'll do the same on my friend's Wii. Thanks guys!

By the way, would uninstalling bootmii before reinstalling have made a difference? Because that's what I did this time, but I'm pretty sure I didn't do that the first time.

if you can install boot2 on your wii, you can always do it, no matter what.

softmodded my wii about 2 days ago on virgin wii fw 4.2u couldn't install bootmii as boot 2
so I had to run HBC to install bootmii

hope this helps ^^

Just got your newmod.rar loaded to SD card went to bannerbomb and it froze.
I have a lu66 virgin and did have a lu33 modded all the way with usb loader and everything. Sent the lu33 in to nintendo for pixel problem they sent lu66 back.

Do you know why its freezing off the bat?

wiimenu 4.2u

i just wanted to know if i use the power button on the wii remote to switch the wii off, the hard drive is still been powered by the wii, but if i hold the power button on the wii itself for 4 seconds then the hard drive will switch off. is that normal?

Thanks for the guide.

But this guide does NOT work for "any Wii", at least not the backup part.
The latest Wii's with D3-2 chipset does not launch backups from DVD, no matter what.

It may be my fault for not reading every thread on the forums but adding a note to that regard would not hurt.

Sorry if its been asked, but 102 pages is a little much for me to skim/search through:

I used your guide about a week or two ago, and now its updated with the new cIOS things. I have 4.2u system menu, bootmii/preloader.29/HBC etc. (everything that was listed before in the guide).

Can I just start from the beginning and use this guide again? Will I mess anything up?
