I have gotten to the same stage that i was at before. followed the guide. am now updated to 4.2U with homebrew etc.

there is something a little bit weird that i noticed, i was hoping someone could shed some light on it.

when i was on 4.1U, when i ran any region changer 1.1, there wa no problems. ie. there was no console area/sysmenu mismatch, and in the "system menu 3.2 installer" row the installed region was identified as "U"

however, once i updated using this guide, when i run any region changer, there is an error of some sort at the beginning, after which it loads into the main screen and now there is a warning that there is an AREA/sysmenu mismatch. and in the system menu 3.2 installer row, the installed region reads as "."

any reason why this is happening?

i actually have lots of old original gamecube games that i bought when i lived in australia (PAL games) so while i was on 4.1U, if i wanted to play my GC games directly from the disc channel, i would run any region changer and change the "game region setting" and "console video mode" to "europe" and "PAL" respectively. and this would allow me to play my games (if i didnt do this, the games wouldnt work).

now having updated to 4.2 using this guide. i cant make that switch anymore.... meaning i have a shelf full of GC i cant play

idea, suggestions, help???

Perhaps try launching them with neogamma (should work). If that doesn't work, you could always go back to system menu 4.1. The best (and simplest) way to have it done right (modding system menu ios and correct priiloader stuff) would be modmii.

i downloaded the latest version of neogamma and viola! my PAL GC games worked. awesome. thankyou very much for the advice.

now to figure out why usb loading wont work....

ihave done everything as it should be done, but no matter what i do, when cfg usb loader tries to mount the drive it either timesout, or it freezes up on the first spalsh screen where it says what cIOS it uses. i am sure i have follwed all the steps correctly.

here is a link to a post i made outlining exactly what i did (its really long i know, but all the info step by step is there, so anyone who knows their stuff can tell if i made a mistake)

http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=273...p;#entry3382142

i know its super long so let me sum up. follwed this guide to update to 4.2U

installed all the custom IOS necessary (236, 222, 223, 244 and others... although while i was looking at the screen when running the YAWM multimod batch, all of these CIOS seemed to be installed anyway. in any case i installed them again as per the guide to get usb loading to work on the wii

i tried with probably 6 different USB devices (flash drive, portable HDD, external powered HDD)

and no donut so far.

you've been a great help to me so far, so i thought i would try my luck one more time. any ideas on what i could be doing wrong?? or what i could do to make it work. so far no matter what i have tried nothing is working

thanks

i got a problem cause i have got a europe wii and im on 4.3E and i dont have any of the games that are needed i only got super smash brawl

The responses in the other post were correct. If it doesn't work, I'm not sure. One thing you could try is to make a /apps folder and toss an app in there (copy something from the sd card), and see if when you load the hbc without and sd card if it recognizes the drive. Could be a dead usb port. And I'm surprised I didn't mention this before, but you know only the bottom usb port can be used for usb loading, right?

I have a friend who has bought a new 4.3. He wants me to mod it. I have modded many, many 4.1 and below. I have decided to go with the lego batman exploit(seems the easiest, least expensive). After I do the exploit and work through the guide as usual, will I need to do any additional steps? Such as with COD black ops needing the updated shop channel to run correctly? (not remember why or what it was needed but just can't remember why) But all in all, after following the guide (and installing cfg loader and mplayer) will I be able to watch movies and play off of an external HD? I appreciate any help. Reminder: 4.3U wii

is there a way to downgrade to 4.0 or something
i still got homebrew channel

What is your problem?
As long as you have the HBC your options are free. Probably no reason to downgrade.

Just tell us what problems your have.

yeah, i read about having to use the bottom usb port, and thats the one i have been trying it with.

when i try and read apps off of the usb drive via homebrew, i have no problems at all....

which is why i am thinking maybe somewhere in one of the steps i did something wrong with the way i setup to use cfg usb loader i guess the only to test that theory would be to try and run a game using cfg usb loader from an sd card. and then that way i could at least see if the software is working properly. if it does work off an sd card then i havent botched anything (and i simply have a weird usb port that can be read to run apps, but doesnt allow mounting....), and if it doesnt work off the sd card either, then i definitely did goof up somewhere along the way.

does this sound like a good way to pinpointing the problem, or is my logic flawed due to something i have overlooked?

Just use Modmii. Lookat the Wii hacking sticky.
It will get your Wii up to date, and usb loading within 10 minutes , using the files and the generated guide.

COD Black Opps doesn't need Shop Channel.

When using USB Loader GX you have to use cios 249/250 rev20 base 57 and DONT TURN ON 002 FIX SET IT TO ANTI
I had it set to yes and now that its on anti it works great.

This cIOS'es work with COD Black Ops
cIOS224[57]-v5
cIOS249[57]-v20
cIOS250[57]-v20

well first i had firmware 4.2 but my gc backup loaders didn't work so i updated to get every cios deinstalled so i can re install everything so maybe it works
but i wana softmod it but now my system software is 4.3E and i dont have any of the games required for the softmod exept super smash bros brawl but they say you only can use it when you have a NTSC wii

Ok, im going to get the Lego: Batman the video game for my wii console because ive heard you can use it now and Lego Indiana Jones is too hard to get!

can someone tell me if the lego batman one is reliable?

I tested the Bathaxx exploit with LEGO Batman (on USB Loader GX). And that worked.
So it should also work with the original game.
I ordered a copy for myself.

You should not have your Wii updated to 4.3!
Now you can only softmod it with an original game, LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Batman or Yu-Gi-Oh Wheelie Breaker.
LEGO Batman is still orderable.

You never have to de-install any cIOS, just reinstall the cIOS.
If it's not working, you can just start all over.

I seem to be having a problem. After I completed the process I tried some backups through USBloader GX, and in some games (specially Mario Kart and Wario Shake It) the wiimote keeps disconnecting - it's quite often and quite annoying. Also, Wario Shake It has an in-game warning of low-battery that sometimes pops up even with battery in full capacity.I do not know if it happens with every game, but I know that when I play the originals of these games, there is no problem whatsoever. I also installed Wiiflow and the problem is also present with it.

Can someone help get rid of this "Communications with the Wii Remote have been interrupted" problem?
