Modbo 5.0 problem

I just installed a Modbo 5.0 in my scph-39001 and I can't get it to read backups or original disc. I booted in the config and switched the mode to auto. When I put a game in it and boot it up and the system goes to the browser and shows there a ps2 disc in the drive. When I try to launch it all I get is a black screen. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
