Hey all.
I have the OLDEST PSP evarr... Got it at launch of the first PSP.
QUESTIONS:
1) How can I tell if it is 100x 200x or whatever?
2) Can I mod it?
3) What can I do if I mod it?
4) Please can you link a guide to mod my PSP?
5) Would you stop me from modding it? If yes, why?

1 - If you got it when the PSPs first came out, it's a fat (1000) model. If the back isn't flat (the battery cover buldges/curves out a bit), it's a 1000.

2 - If you're on firmware 5.03 or less, you can softmod it. Else, you'll need a pandora battery. You can buy one or turn a normal battery into one (which will make it unusable as a normal battery, only do this if you have a spare). The softmod sticky goes into detail.

3 - Play pirated PSP games... but you can also play PSX/1 games (I'm serious, a sticky here shows you how to convert them for use on the PSP), run homebrew games and programs, watch youtube and various online porn sites (GoTube 1.2), use IRC and instant messengers (AFKIM), cheat at the games (CheatMaster Fusion for PSP games and homebrew, CWCheat POPS for PSX/1 games), take screenshots, stream gameplay video to your PC to record it, and all sorts of stuff... not to mention all the emulators. NES, SNES, Gameboy/Color, GBA, Master System, Game Gear, Genesis, and there's even an N64 emulator (though most games don't run and the ones that do run slow). The PSP's emulation scene is much stronger than the DS's.

4 - Sticky.

5 - Nope. You can do way more than simply pirate stuff like people think, and you'll be able to switch back and forth between official firmware and custom when you want with a pandora battery (later models can't do that).

It's a 1000. But if you insist on reassurance if the Wifi Switch is on the bottom left, the speaker holes are at the bottom left and right of the screen and there's an IR port along the top left it's a 1000. If the Wifi is at the top left, there's no IR and the speakers are to either side of the top of the screen it's a 2000.

Launch PSP? Then yes.....

EVERYTHING.....(excluding mind control and making good coffee). Emulation, games, pdf readers, music players etc.....if it's a 1000 you could even use it as a makeshift TV remote to mess with electrical stores when you're out and about.

Check the STICKY TOPIC. If you haven't update the firmware recently then it's double easy.

Modding isn't permanent. If you don't like it, get paranoid or start feeling like you'll be struck down by Unholy Sony vengeance you can always go back to Official Firmware.

Thanks all. That was some very useful information to get me started.
I'm using a launch PSP 1000 I guess, which my brother right now gave me permanently, since it hasn't been switched on in literally over 2 years. I guess the firmware is REALLY old.
Yeah so, I'll update this thread as I progress in modding.

No.

Yes, shit sucks.

Pandora batteries are $7-$9 depending on where you buy online.

Of you COULD wait until "before christmas" when Total_Noob releases his 6.20 HEN and hope that'll allow you to flash it.

Okay, so how can I make a Pandora battery thingy?
And
Is it hard?
Also, I heard you can't use it like a normal battery, what does that mean?

It means that you need to use a special IPL on your MS if you want a Pandora battery to boot to XMB....

Well, first of all, what kind of battery (phat/slim) do you want to make into a Pandora, and how
(soft/hardmod)?
Well of course you can't use it like a normal battery, it's a Pandora battery, duh.

Well idk the original battery that comes with my Phat psp 100x . What do you mean how? I just wanna mod the PSP but it's on firmware 6 point something.
And what do you mean I can't use it like a normal battery?
Other than the fact that it's a Pandora battery, what makes it different than the ordinary battery?

It will always try to boot from the Memory Stick, basically. You'll be better off buying a pandora battery rather than hardmodding.

I can wait.
But, did he confirm he's gonna release it or just rumors?
I don't wanna wait for nothing

I'm now looking into the PSP scene and all the PSPs I see everywhere are sold for like 100 dollars or more unmodded... 150 - 200 modded.. It's depressing lol
