I've recently received a mod-chipped japanese wii as a gift, which was nice, with back up copies of sports and play (I already own genuine copies) which work very well. My ten year old already has a PAL wii with quite a few games - I'd like to back the games up to play on the japanese machine, or even to play the originals, but I simply don't know where to start. I've tried genuine PAL versions of Sports, Smooth Moves and Brain Academy and they open to a welcome page but go no further. I'm not the most technical of people, so if anyone has an idiot-proof step-by-step method of doing this I'd be very grateful.

japanese wii's are PAL wiis idk why they won't play those games, have you tried your genuine games? because sometimes mis-modded wii's will play back-ups but not the original
???
Japanese wiis are NOT pal wiis!!

Japanese wiis are NTSC-J wiis
for compatibly of pal games on a NTSC-J wii go here:
