v4 lets you use an ORIGINAL Action Replay disc. Using an original Action Replay disc for a backup game will NOT work with softmods.
v5 was released solely to blacklist Action Replay, as far as I know.
v8 patched up the "tweezer attack," used by Team Twiizers to extract some keys.
